Jalisco is home to the most representative items that represent Mexico in the world, Mariachi, Tequila and hat dance. But there is more in this land than those brands dyed by Hollywood to our country. I was born and raised in San Andres, one of the oldest barrios (neighborhoods) in Guadalajara, I belong to a large Mexican family. When I was 19 years old I went for an adventure to the United States, young and single with nothing to lose and lots to gain I migrated to the States. I was fortunate to meet lots of people from all over the world while I went to study in a community college, then I learned that there were lots of misconceptions about Mexico. First I study a GED and along the way I obtain an associated degree in liberal arts, then I decide I should do something to teach people about my country and I studied an associated degree in Traveling and Tourism. In the USA I lived mostly on the west coast but also for a while on the east coast. In the year 2000 I applied to the tourism bureau to get my credentials to become a Tourist guide and in 2001 I obtained a four-year permit which I renew twice and after twelve years I obtained my permanent permit. During this time I have met people from all over the world and I have participated in T. V. programs, radio programs, I have aided book writers and help people in different investigations. Family members search, climate change, owls research among many other adventures. So, since 2001 I've been guiding people from all over the world and enjoying what I do giving my best to every single person I have helped. Please allow me to show you my home and be part of your memories, memories that you will make when traveling into a new world that is waiting for you and your dear family members. This tour is by the countryside, if the weather and traffic allow it, we'll visit the Town of Santa Cruz de las Flores, one of the most representative art pieces of the TEKITKI art tradition, (Tributary art) an entire building dedicated to fertility, you have to see it to believe it. The next town to Visit at the westernmost part of the lake is Jocotepec a town that was established in 1539, where you'll get to see the edge of Chapala Lake (the largest one in Mexico). Another town that is very interesting is San Juan Cosala famous for its thermal water's park and racquet club community, very popular among ex-pats who retire in the area. Ajijic is the most popular place by the lake, cobblestone streets, restaurants, and galleries full of crafts, paintings, and lots of art items products of the people's talent. In Chapala city we'll try to visit its Malecon where the Tapatios love to spend their weekends. After this, we'll drive back to Guadalajara to your hotel.
This tour begins at your most convenient time, we suggest you do it at 9:00 am, the tour is designed to go one way and make a loop to come back, that means that you have to enjoy your way since we won't come back the same way. Jocotepec is famous for the Birria that they serve in that town and the sorbets with lots of natural and strange flavors, Chongos Zamoranos, mamey, and other local seasonal fruits. If you decide to have lunch in Ajijic there are lots of different foods to choose from or we can go to my favorite spot. Is in Chapala where you can rent a little boat for a ride in the lake (optional). After this, we'll drive back to Guadalajara to your hotel, if you decide to extend your tour let me know.
