The region of Jalisco is the most representative of the whole country. Jalisco is the land of the mariachi, tequila, charreria, and much more. The state capital, Guadalajara, is a fascinating place, a cosmopolitan city with its very own identity. The Lake Chapala area, with beautiful towns and very gentle weather throughout the year, is a favorite destination for winter vacations. Mexico is a country with a very rich culture and history. Ranks first in the Americas in the number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Its diversity of customs, its magnificent and traditional cuisine, climate, and above all, the friendliness of its people are what make this country a place to visit at least once in your life, always invited to return. Socrates said: "There is only one good, knowledge. There is only one evil, ignorance". My passion to know my country, its very vast history and culture, is what motivated me to become a tour guide. Since I was very young, I have enjoyed interacting with people from all over the world. I have been fortunate to be able to travel, live, and work in many different countries and learn about other cultures and customs. Now that I have the time and opportunity to show my country to visitors from any part of the world, I have the feeling that I am reaping the benefits of the knowledge I have cultivated all my life. Most of my life I have lived in this beautiful region, and I know very well its places, customs, and lots of nice and helpful people who always make us feel welcome. I am a good, experienced driver, and you always feel comfortable and safe in my vehicle. I will always do my best to make your experience in this region of Mexico memorable and enjoyable. I am a professional book editor and photographer. For the past 25 years, I have edited art books for museums, art galleries, and artisan towns. I have been working in the hospitality business for more than 20 years. While working for the local newspaper, I visited all the museums, historical sites, and buildings, as well as most of the towns and villages in the State of Jalisco, writing articles and taking photographs of all these places.

The tour begins with a panoramic drive through the most emblematic areas of the City of Guadalajara We will drive by the Minerva Fountain, the Los Arcos monument, and the world-famous Colonia Americana, named the coolest neighborhood for living worldwide, with beautiful European design mansions. Also, we will drive to the lovely Chapultepec area with many monuments and colonial mansions, and the neo-Gothic Expiatory Church. Upon arrival at the Historic Downtown District, we begin a guided walking tour that includes: Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, Libertad Plaza, Plaza of the Illustrious Men of Jalisco, Plaza Tapatia, Degollado Theatre, and the fabulous Cabañas Orphanage, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you are wondering if it is worth visiting Guadalajara? I'll just say, it absolutely is! So join me and discover a city of culture, art, history, and incredible architecture.

Luis was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and had a great time. Luis even helped us get tickets to see the philharmonic orchestra, and they were fantastic. We highly recommend Luis.
This tour with Luis was exceptional, the 4 of us all enjoyed it very much. The walking was easy going and there was plenty of information about Guadalajara history. It was a joy to be able to see all the sights with Luis, who is very knowledgeable and fluent in English. The second part for us was a drive to see some different districts and monuments in the area. Luis gave us a great recommendation for lunch after our tour. Thank you very much, will certainly do this again with guests that visit.
If there was a rating higher than 5 Luis definitely earned it. He has impeccable English and a rich background of educational and work experiences to draw upon. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of central Guadalajara with Luis. We are richer for all that he shared as we travelled by vehicle and on foot to see the sights and treasures of the city. I suspect we will take advantage of his expertise for another tour while we are in Guadalajara for two more weeks.

The tour was endlessly fascinating. Luis was extremely personable and knowledgeable, processing a deep understanding of the people and culture his beloved native city. Through architecture we learned about the neighborhoods of the city which reflect many periods of development, starting with the first Cathedral built by the Spanish in 1539 up to the present.
