The core belief of my experiences is that the most significant and ultimate attraction of Guadalajara is its people. Born and raised in Guadalajara, I went into tourism studies after living in Canada and New Zealand with the purpose of making the history and culture of my country visible to the world, thus helping to change the image of Mexico that is often portrayed by the media. With that goal in mind, I would like to provide you with an authentically local experience that allows you to immerse in the daily life of the community by walking through the most emblematic neighborhoods, markets and plazas, while engaging directly with the local inhabitants of Guadalajara. Whether a family with children, a couple, a group of friends, a business person or a solo backpacker, my tours are highly flexible and easily adaptable to meet your specific needs. My hope is that, by the end of the day, you will have created an emotional bond with the people of Guadalajara and broadened your perspective on Mexican society. 7 years working as a tour guide. I hold a bachelor's degree in tourism and a master's degree in social studies from the University of Guadalajara. I learned to speak English while living in cities like Auckland, New Zealand; Vancouver, Canada; and Asheville, USA. I have published academic papers and book chapters on tourism, indigenous shamanism, and the role of cultural heritage in promoting local economic development. I've appeared on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the US as part of the show 100 Days, Drinks, Dishes and Destinations. I am not a driver-guide, I'm only a guide but I will arrange for a licensed driver and a car for our tour.

Discover the ancient Guachimontones pyramids, a 2000-year-old archaeological site that stands as a striking testament to pre-Hispanic ingenuity. Then step into the fascinating world of tequila and witness the craftsmanship that brings this celebrated drink to life. As part of the experience, you'll discover the world's only concentric circular pyramids and the captivating legacy of the Teuchitlán tradition. Afterwards, you’ll learn how to properly taste and appreciate artisanal, additive-free tequila, discovering its rich flavors and aromas. Finally, you'll immerse yourself in the charming town of Tequila, where you can soak up the local culture, stroll through colorful streets, and enjoy authentic regional cuisine at a local market. Throughout the day, enjoy the comfort of a private, customized experience at your own pace, with a dedicated English-speaking guide and driver.

Your Guadalajara tour itinerary

After a scenic one-hour drive, you’ll arrive at the circular pyramids of Guachimontones. During a one-hour tour, your expert guide, Diego, will share captivating stories about the indigenous civilization that once thrived in this valley before mysteriously disappearing. Continue the journey at the on-site museum, where you’ll gain deeper insights into their legacy and culture. Next, we head to a hidden gem: a family-owned tequila hacienda and distillery. On a private 1-hour tour, discover the secrets of artisanal production and enjoy a guided tasting. Take home a piece of the magic with exclusive, factory-priced bottles! The next stop is the charming 16th-century town of Tequila. Savor a delicious market lunch and sip on refreshing "cantarito" cocktails in the main square. Stroll the village's colorful streets at your own pace. On the way back, we’ll pause at the iconic agave fields, perfect for soaking in the views and capturing unforgettable photos. The drive to your hotel takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.
