The core belief of my experiences is that the most significant and ultimate attraction of Guadalajara is its people. Born and raised in Guadalajara, I went into tourism studies after living in Canada and New Zealand with the purpose of making the history and culture of my country visible to the world, thus helping to change the image of Mexico that is often portrayed by the media. With that goal in mind, I would like to provide you with an authentically local experience that allows you to immerse in the daily life of the community by walking through the most emblematic neighborhoods, markets and plazas, while engaging directly with the local inhabitants of Guadalajara. Whether a family with children, a couple, a group of friends, a business person or a solo backpacker, my tours are highly flexible and easily adaptable to meet your specific needs. My hope is that, by the end of the day, you will have created an emotional bond with the people of Guadalajara and broadened your perspective on Mexican society. 7 years working as a tour guide. I hold a bachelor's degree in tourism and a master's degree in social studies from the University of Guadalajara. I learned to speak English while living in cities like Auckland, New Zealand; Vancouver, Canada; and Asheville, USA. I have published academic papers and book chapters on tourism, indigenous shamanism, and the role of cultural heritage in promoting local economic development. I've appeared on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the US as part of the show 100 Days, Drinks, Dishes and Destinations. I am not a driver-guide, I'm only a guide but I will arrange for a licensed driver and a car for our tour.

Welcome to Guadalajara! I created this experience to introduce travelers to the city where I was born and raised. Rather than a typical tour, I want to guide you through a carefully designed walking journey across the city, moving in time from modern to colonial. By navigating Guadalajara's local markets, public plazas, architectural landmarks, and traditional barrios, you will become immersed in the city's local culture, while being led through a detailed narration of the city's intriguing anecdotes and fascinating insights. This experience is carefully crafted to highlight the city’s authentic local culture and to introduce its most important cultural treasure: its people and local community.
We’ll meet at your preferred time. In a fun and relaxed 4 to 5 hour walk you'll see 10+ fundamental landmarks, including: • The Cathedral • The city’s main plazas • The government buildings • Templo Expiatorio • Mercado Libertad or San Juan de Dios • Colonia Americana • Hospicio Cabañas • Degollado Theater • . . . and more! First, you’ll step into Colonia Americana, a neighborhood born in the early 1900s by wealthy industrialists. Here, you will understand how American capitalism and protestantism played a key role in the city’s modern development. The journey will then take us through the deeper layers of history at the city center, from the legacy of indigenous traditions and the Spanish colony, to the echoes of religious conflicts that shaped the city’s landscape. By the end of this fully immersive cultural experience, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Guadalajara and Mexico’s past, present, and future.
