Hola, My name is Anwar and I am the coolest tour guide in Mexico. My family is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, the birthplace of tequila and mariachi. My tour guiding started when I became an Uber driver. I would pick up tourists in Uber and talking in English they would ask me what places to see, what restaurants to eat at, where is there live mariachi. . . etc. In the end, they would just hire me to be their guide/driver. That's how I became a guide a bit over 3 years ago, and I love it!! My years as an Uber driver have given me great knowledge of the city of Guadalajara and its many places. I also like history and the Arts and I combine that with my passion to show visitors the richness of my culture and the beautiful landmarks that Guadalajara has to offer. I've also lived part-time in the United States and this background has given me a unique perspective on how I view my country and how others view Mexico, something that helps me connect with visitors! I can do tours all over the state of Jalisco as well as personalize them. I especially like when it's somebody's first time in Guadalajara and I'm their guide, showing them around. A guide is also an ambassador to the country, we are the representation of the country, the connection between the visitor and what's visited, and it's my goal that all visitors have a great experience here! I will get you up close to the culture and people of Guadalajara and show you why it is an important part of Mexico and the Mexican culture. There is a slogan: Jalisco is Mexico! In my tours, you will find out why that is so. English language certified Certified and accredited by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico Chofer driver's license Diploma in Excursionism Diploma of General tour Guide Half a decade of experience guiding In my tours, there are no limitations!

Overview of your Guadalajara tour

In this tour, you will explore the history of the 5 oldest temples of Guadalajara, each of them built in the 16th century, and each declared National Historical Monuments by Mexican Law. Some of the sites are cathedrals, while some are chapels or churches. All built by the Spaniards as religious sites of worship and are still used as such to this day. Appreciate the temples different art styles, from the reinassance and baroque, to gothic revival, realism and even indochristian expressions. Discover the story of resillience reflected by the fact that these temples are still standing throughout around four centuries, after facing earthquakes, loots and even a provoked fire. Visit the temple of the Saint whose name was assumed by the current Pope Francis, and learn how it was rebuilt after being set ablaze by sacred paintings thieves. Also, get to witness the sculpture of a martyr who was seen sweating blood.

Your Guadalajara tour itinerary

The tour will take place in Centro Historico of Guadalajara after I pick you up at your place of stay. The temples we will explore in the following order are: 1) The Cathedral of Guadalajara, which serves as headquarters for Guadalajara's Archdiocese. 2) By just walking 2 blocks, we'll reach "Templo de San Augustin", of baroque style, which will turn 350 years old in 2024. 3) We'll then visit "Templo de San Francisco de Asis", which was built upon the ruins of a prior franciscan convent after an earthquake destroyed it. 4) After this temple we will drive to another part of the Centro Histórico to explore the last 2 temples: 4) Templo de San Jose de Analco, the first of the two "Analco" temples, which means "to the other side of the river". 5) Templo de San Sebastián de Analco, built to host an allegedly miraculous image of said christian martyr. After the last temple's visit, I'll drive you back to your place of stay. This itinerary can be customized to best meet your specific interests.
