Explore Weimar your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Weimar tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Weimar for every interest, including:

History tours: Weimar’s past is closely tied to its role as a centre for culture and politics. Sites linked to Goethe and Schiller stand alongside reminders of the Weimar Republic era. The city also carries the weight of darker chapters, with locations connected to the events of the 20th century. Each period has left visible traces in streets, squares, and public buildings.

Architecture tours: The mix of styles is striking. Classical villas sit near Bauhaus-era structures, and both have shaped the city’s reputation. The Haus am Horn offers a direct look at early Bauhaus design. Parks and gardens are dotted with small pavilions and ornate bridges that show the influence of earlier centuries.

Museums tours: The Goethe National Museum and the Schiller Residence preserve the homes and collections of two of Germany’s most influential writers. The Bauhaus Museum focuses on the school’s origins and its impact on design. Smaller galleries and historic houses hold collections that reflect the city’s long artistic tradition.

The old town can be covered comfortably on foot, with most major sites close together. Local buses run to outer districts, and for places beyond the centre, private transport offers more flexibility.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Weimar inside and out.
