Explore Baden Baden your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Baden Baden tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Baden Baden for every interest, including:

History tours: Explore the Roman bath ruins beneath Friedrichsbad and hear how the spa tradition evolved, then step into the Trinkhalle to read its frescoes. Visit the elegant Casino Baden-Baden with a guide or climb to the medieval Hohenbaden Castle ruins for stone-by-stone stories.

Nature and Wildlife tours: Ride the Merkur funicular and hike the ridge to the Battert cliffs for views and forest paths back into town. Stroll Lichtentaler Allee and continue to Geroldsauer Wasserfall, where shaded ravines and rhododendrons line the trail.

Nature and Wildlife tours: Go deeper into Black Forest National Park for a guided walk focused on tracks and habitat, with chances to spot deer at dusk. For family-friendly wildlife, visit a small Wildgehege near the Merkurwald to see wild boar and fallow deer and learn about local conservation.

The compact centre is easy to cover on foot, and local buses link the spa quarter, Merkur funicular, and Lichtental. To reach trailheads and remote valleys, you can book chauffeured tours or tours with private transportation, or ask your guide to arrange a car.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Baden Baden inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Baden Baden

From Baden-Baden, you can reach riverside cities, wine villages, and high forest roads in under two hours, making easy day trips that match your pace.

- Strasbourg, France: Cross the Rhine in about an hour for canals, half-timber streets in La Petite France, and the cathedral; it suits you if you like old-town walks, river views, and regional food, with easy stops for tarte flambée and quiet corners for photos.

- Heidelberg: A compact old town below a hilltop castle with wide views of the Neckar, a good match if you want history, student life, and simple scenic hikes, since the Philosophenweg and Old Bridge link big sights without much planning.

- Black Forest High Road and Mummelsee: Follow the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse for viewpoints, short forest trails, and time by the lake, great if your interests lean to light hikes, local cake and ham, and roadside stops with big views.

- Freiburg im Breisgau: A sunny city on the edge of the Black Forest with the Münster market, little Bächle streams, and car-light streets, working well if you enjoy markets, architecture, and a greener city feel that still stays relaxed.

- Alsace Wine Route villages, like Riquewihr and Kaysersberg: Vineyards wrap small towns with tasting rooms and ridge views, a fit if you prefer slow walks, wine, and half-timber details, and wine tours here make it easy to focus on tasting instead of driving.
