Originally a fortified keep it was transformed into a renaissance palace by Bavaria's rulers and over the next four centuries became one of the largest and most beautiful palaces in the world. Besides being a home the Residenz was also centre of Bavarian government, intrigue and power politics from 1508 to 1918 and over the centuries it has seen dukes, kings, poets, emperors and revolutionaries pass through its doors. On your tour you will be guided through it's glittering halls and see the magnificent art works, treasures and architectural masterpieces that the Residenz is famed for while your expert guide explains about the history of the palace, the royal family and the, sometimes, scandalous daily life at court. Also included in your tour is the Treasury of the family, the showcase of a collections of gold, jewels and precious stones spanning centuries.
