Hi. I was born in the heart of England and after graduating in history and archaeology from the University of Wales Bangor I spent a few years working as an archaeologist and historic conservator in some of the U. K's grandest castles and manors. I moved to Munich 12 years ago and since then I have worked as a tour guide covering all aspects of local history, from Munich's medieval origins to the Nazis. Over the years of working in I have developed a special interest in the local brewing history and beer drinking culture and as well as the history and palaces of the royal family. Medieval history and the early years of the Nazi's are also passions of mine. On my tours I love to look beyond the typical and delve more deeply into Munich's fascinating history and culture by showing my guests it's grandest palaces, hidden gems, traditional beerhalls and as much as we can squeeze in on a tour. My aim is to show you the best of Munich and provide for you an unforgettable day out. Join me to see the Munich Residenz, one of the crown jewels of Bavaria. Originally a fortified keep it was transformed into a renaissance palace by Bavaria's rulers and over the next four centuries became one of the largest and most beautiful palaces in the world. Besides being a home the Residenz was also centre of Bavarian government, intrigue and power politics from 1508 to 1918 and over the centuries it has seen dukes, kings, poets, emperors and revolutionaries pass through its doors. On your tour you will be guided through it's glittering halls and see the magnificent art works, treasures and architectural masterpieces that the Residenz is famed for while your expert guide explains about the history of the palace, the royal family and the, sometimes, scandalous daily life at court. Also included in your tour is the Treasury of the family, the showcase of a collections of gold, jewels and precious stones spanning centuries.
• First you will meet me outside the Residenz Palace on Max Joseph Platz • Next you will enter the palace directly and be guided through the beautiful halls and see the stunning range of architecture, from the Renaissance to the Neo-Gothic while learning about the history of the building and the royal family • Afterwards you can take in the treasury to see the crown jewels of Bavaria along with the fabulous precious collection the Wittelsbachs amassed over the centuries I can customize the tour upon request, feel free to contact me.
