In a nutshell: Experienced and CERTIFIED tour guide specializing in tours for guests from the US and Canada • native German speaking English without German accent • my tours are interesting but not overwhelming: knowledge in well-measured doses • sense of humor (yes!) • M. A. translator • traveler • mother • love what I do The longer story: For several years now I've been happily guiding guests from overseas around Regensburg, and I do take my job very seriously in order to deliver high-quality tours. My tour philosophy is: edutainment. For me this means to make history come alive and to give you just the right amount of information on the places we visit without getting lost in too many details. After all, I want you to enjoy yourselves and to have a good time. Believe it or not - Germans do have a sense of humor, too. Originally, I am from northern Germany, but I have been living in Regensburg and the greater area for about a decade, and from the first moment I have been in love with this town - the original medieval buildings, the romantic small alleys and the lovely plazas - it's impossible not to love Regensburg. So I am always happy to share my enthusiasm for this place with anyone who is interested! I completed the guide training courses of two local tour agencies, which included written and practical exams, in 2009 and 2015. Apart from that I have never stopped reading and learning about Regensburg's history. My English is truly fluent as I lived in the US as a teenager for the high school year of 2001/02. Plus, I have been studying and working with the English language for over 20 years now. I hold a Master's degree in translation as well. Before my son was born, I worked as a full-time tour guide; even in the US and Canada where I guided German travelers around on bus tours. Now, as a mother, I fully concentrate on Regensburg. So let me make sure your time here will be great. I'm looking forward to being your host! Member of the German Association of Tourist Guides (BVGD). Tour guide training including written and practical test for the city of Regensburg. Training for guiding tours in Munich. Member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDUE). I do not have a permit to take you around in my car. I do not have a license for guiding inside St. Peter's Cathedral or to guide inside any other church in Regensburg.

This tour is right for you, if you've seen the Old Town of Regensburg and now want to get active and hike to see the natural beauty of Regensburg. Discover the green heart of the city on the small islands in the Danube and indulge into nature between old majestic trees. Pass UNDER the famous Stone Bridge and see it from a completely different perspective. Enjoy the view over Old Town after a brief hike up onto the Hill of the Holy Trinity with it's picturesque church - and count the towers in the skyline! Coming down, walk through the northernmost part of the world heritage zone: Stadtamhof. And - after the tour- why now treat yourself to a cool drink in one of our beergardens in this part of town? Get off the beaten track and escape the classic tour routes of town. I've been a certified native-German guide for years and know where the cruise ship tours and other tours go - and where not. I'm looking forward to being your host!
-The tour is about 2. 5 miles (4 km) long and goes uphill about 98 ft. (30 m). -You must be able to walk on gravel paths and uneven ground like coarse cobble stones. -Highlights of our itinerary are the dam that passes under the Stone Bridge (not possible during floods!), the nature paths on the islands with their old trees, the Hill of the Holy Trinity (Dreifaltigkeitsberg), crossing the river lock, and the alleys of the town part called "Stadtamhof". -The tour ends at the northern head of the Stone Bridge. -In order to get from the islands to the Hill of the Holy Trinity and back, we must walk along and across some of the city's main streets with traffic. -Also important: at least for the first 1. 5 to 2 hours there is no possibility to use a restroom. -Please make sure to bring water and sun protection. No shops on the way until the end. This tour can be customized to your level of fitness. I can shorten it or even make it longer including a longer strech of the hill. Please inquire.
