In a nutshell: Experienced and CERTIFIED tour guide specializing in tours for guests from the US and Canada • native German speaking English without German accent • my tours are interesting but not overwhelming: knowledge in well-measured doses • sense of humor (yes!) • M. A. translator • traveler • mother • love what I do The longer story: For several years now I've been happily guiding guests from overseas around Regensburg, and I do take my job very seriously in order to deliver high-quality tours. My tour philosophy is: edutainment. For me this means to make history come alive and to give you just the right amount of information on the places we visit without getting lost in too many details. After all, I want you to enjoy yourselves and to have a good time. Believe it or not - Germans do have a sense of humor, too. Originally, I am from northern Germany, but I have been living in Regensburg and the greater area for about a decade, and from the first moment I have been in love with this town - the original medieval buildings, the romantic small alleys and the lovely plazas - it's impossible not to love Regensburg. So I am always happy to share my enthusiasm for this place with anyone who is interested! I completed the guide training courses of two local tour agencies, which included written and practical exams, in 2009 and 2015. Apart from that I have never stopped reading and learning about Regensburg's history. My English is truly fluent as I lived in the US as a teenager for the high school year of 2001/02. Plus, I have been studying and working with the English language for over 20 years now. I hold a Master's degree in translation as well. Before my son was born, I worked as a full-time tour guide; even in the US and Canada where I guided German travelers around on bus tours. Now, as a mother, I fully concentrate on Regensburg. So let me make sure your time here will be great. I'm looking forward to being your host! Member of the German Association of Tourist Guides (BVGD). Tour guide training including written and practical test for the city of Regensburg. Training for guiding tours in Munich. Member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDUE). I do not have a permit to take you around in my car. I do not have a license for guiding inside St. Peter's Cathedral or to guide inside any other church in Regensburg.

This tour is ideal for you if you've already seen Regensburg's highlights like the cathedral, stone bridge and town halls. Good news: in an old town with roughly 1000 listed buildings there's more to see! So let me take you along the fringes of old town from east to west to see more highlights that most visitors miss out on. We'll also cross the river to see the other side and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the old town. Are you traveling to Regensburg on a cruise ship? This tour is the perfect extension to the walking tours your cruise ship offers and will complete your Regensburg experience. You'll definitely see more than your fellow travelers. I've been a certified native-German guide for years and speak English fluently. As I also work as a guide for the Danube cruise ships docking in Regensburg, I know exactly what the ships' included walking tours cover and what not. You simply can't see it all in just 1. 5 or 2 hours, so let me make sure you don't miss out!
This walking tour takes you along the fringes of Regensburg's Old Town and across the river. We'll see the following places: - the impressive hidden stretch of the almost 2000-year-old Roman wall underneath Dachauplatz square - Obermünster, the last World War II ruin of town -the New Synagogue - St. Emmeram, one of Regensburg's most splendid churches first built in the 700s (inside visit not guaranteed but usually possible) -Church of the Holy Trinity (outside) with its special cemetery -the other side of the river and the Skyline of the old town Of course, this tour can be customized to fit your preferences - please inquire!
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
