In a nutshell: Experienced and CERTIFIED tour guide specializing in tours for guests from the US and Canada • native German speaking English without German accent • my tours are interesting but not overwhelming: knowledge in well-measured doses • sense of humor (yes!) • M. A. translator • traveler • mother • love what I do The longer story: For several years now I've been happily guiding guests from overseas around Regensburg, and I do take my job very seriously in order to deliver high-quality tours. My tour philosophy is: edutainment. For me this means to make history come alive and to give you just the right amount of information on the places we visit without getting lost in too many details. After all, I want you to enjoy yourselves and to have a good time. Believe it or not - Germans do have a sense of humor, too. Originally, I am from northern Germany, but I have been living in Regensburg and the greater area for about a decade, and from the first moment I have been in love with this town - the original medieval buildings, the romantic small alleys and the lovely plazas - it's impossible not to love Regensburg. So I am always happy to share my enthusiasm for this place with anyone who is interested! I completed the guide training courses of two local tour agencies, which included written and practical exams, in 2009 and 2015. Apart from that I have never stopped reading and learning about Regensburg's history. My English is truly fluent as I lived in the US as a teenager for the high school year of 2001/02. Plus, I have been studying and working with the English language for over 20 years now. I hold a Master's degree in translation as well. Before my son was born, I worked as a full-time tour guide; even in the US and Canada where I guided German travelers around on bus tours. Now, as a mother, I fully concentrate on Regensburg. So let me make sure your time here will be great. I'm looking forward to being your host! Member of the German Association of Tourist Guides (BVGD). Tour guide training including written and practical test for the city of Regensburg. Training for guiding tours in Munich. Member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDUE). I do not have a permit to take you around in my car. I do not have a license for guiding inside St. Peter's Cathedral or to guide inside any other church in Regensburg.

Just 1.5 hours by train from Munich, discover Regensburg's highlights and hidden treasures that most visitors miss. On top of admiring the colorful crooked houses and impressive historic mansions, small cobblestone alleys and medieval boulevards, we'll find out more about the gigantic, 1800-year-old structure hidden in Regensburg's underground. And do you know where the last remaining WWII ruin in the city is located? How old is Regensburg's New Synagogue? How did a forbidden pregnancy lay the foundations for one of Regensburg's oldest and most magnificent churches? And whre is a small “city of the dead” in the heart of town? To complete your experience, we’ll cross the river and stroll over the historic Stone Bridge, taking in a marvelous panoramic view of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and biggest medieval city of Germany spared by bombs in World War II. Midway through the tour, we’ll take a relaxing break of about 30 minutes, giving you the chance to recharge with a coffee or a refreshing beer.
After getting here by train on your own, we'll see: -Roman wall underneath Dachauplatz plaza -St. Emmeram former monastery church (also inside if open) -Obermuenster ruin -Delegates’ Cemetery -New Synagogue -The other side of the river with its panoramic view …and all of the highlights: -Gothic cathedral St. Peter -Roman Porta Praetoria gate -Medieval Stone Bridge -Historic Sausage Kitchen -Haidplatz square with its impressive 14th century mansions -Small alleys of the medieval craftsmen quarter -Old and new town hall with the seat of the first German “parliament” -Patrician Towers
