Nice to meet you. Born in Munich in 1966, I have lived here with my family most of my life. At the age of 16 I had the opportunity to spend two years in California. An experience that has influenced my life ever since. Not only did I learn (and learn to love) the English language and the friendly and relaxed atmosphere, it also broadened my view on both my hometown and origin. Being a tour guide is such a rewarding job, as I love to meet new people from all over the world and show them MY Munich. Strolling around this city is really fun and all the famous sights are quite close together downtown! There is so much to discover: the Gothic Frauenkirche, the Glockenspiel at Marienplatz, parks and palaces. . . Or would you like to try a glass of beer at the Hofbräuhaus, eat out in one of our famous Beer Gardens or go shopping at the Viktualienmarkt, a beautiful market where you can find the finest cheese, spices, fruit and vegetables, flowers and local craftsmanship? One of the top sites is of course the fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein in the Alps. I could take you on a day-trip through the wonderful countryside and show you the castle, picturesque villages and amazing churches on the way. But Munich also played a sad, important role in the rise of the Third Reich. During my tour of Dachau I will also show you the related sites in Munich for a deeper understanding of this dark era. When giving tours, my approach is always to give you a very personal, private tour and therefore an individual experience. It's not the amount of sites we "tick off", it is about why this church has been built, who is the king that turned his dreams into stunning reality. I want to show you my cultural heritage and let you be part of it. Being a licensed driver guide I can pick you up conveniently at your hotel and I will be with you throughout the tour, accompany you in the castles and also guide you at the destinations we visit, so you can simply lean back and enjoy! No matter if you are here for just a short period of time or a whole week - I will show you this wonderful city at your own pace, according to your wishes. Let me take you on a private sightseeing tour through Munich to show you some of the greatest sights and give you a first impression of Bavaria's capitol. While you lean back comfortably I will drive you from the Palace of Nymphenburg in the West to the Maximilianeum (the parliament) on the right bank of the river Isar that flows through Munich. We will pass the Olympic Park and BMW in the North as well as some of the most beautiful ancient buildings downtown such as the Opera, the Residence, medieval town gates and much more. You will discover why Munich once was called Athens on Isar and learn the wealth of 850 years of history still visible today.
Simone was better than fantastic. She arrived early (even though there was a snow storm). She has a great knowlege of the Munich history as well as current events. We have booked three tours with Simone and could not have been happier with her being our local Bavarian guide. Without her we would not have seen half as much! Being picked up by a private driver/guide not only makes travelling so much easier - it's also more fun. While riding in Simone's comfortable car she answered all our questions, provided us with background information about history, life in Germany and today's political situation. She adapted the pace when needed and also gave us restaurant tips
