Hi. I was born in the heart of England and after graduating in history and archaeology from the University of Wales Bangor I spent a few years working as an archaeologist and historic conservator in some of the U. K's grandest castles and manors. I moved to Munich 12 years ago and since then I have worked as a tour guide covering all aspects of local history, from Munich's medieval origins to the Nazis. Over the years of working in I have developed a special interest in the local brewing history and beer drinking culture and as well as the history and palaces of the royal family. Medieval history and the early years of the Nazi's are also passions of mine. On my tours I love to look beyond the typical and delve more deeply into Munich's fascinating history and culture by showing my guests it's grandest palaces, hidden gems, traditional beerhalls and as much as we can squeeze in on a tour. My aim is to show you the best of Munich and provide for you an unforgettable day out. I will meet you at the main train station before whisking you away to the magnificent palace of Nymphenburg where you will spend an unforgettable half day in one of the most beautiful of Europe's palaces. As you walk through stunning baroque interior I will cover the fascinatingly history of the Wittelsbach royal family in an age of glory, war and betrayal. You will also learn about daily court life from aristocratic flirting to the daily grind of the servants. Outside the palace there are the beautiful park gardens to explore with their four famous pleasure palaces such as the Amalienburg hunting lodge with its mini hall of mirrors or the Badenburg, the royal 18th century swimming pool. (Park palaces closed 16th October to March 28th)
• After you meet your guide you will take public transport to the palace • Upon arrival at Nymphenburg we will enter the palace and you will be taken around the interior • After leaving the palace you will be taken by your guide on a stroll around the beautiful gardens and park palaces. (since the park palaces are close from the 16th October to March 28th the garden walk can be cut shorter if desired) • Tour can be customized upon request, feel free to contact me
