Grüss Gott, I am Franz, born and raised in Munich. I used to be a travel agent and I thought this was the best job ever. Dealing with customers and travelling around the world was fantastic. In 2005 I was looking for an additional part-time job and began guiding. I quickly realized that being a tour guide is even better than being a Travel Agent. In 2007 I followed my passion and became a full time guide. I haven't regretted it yet. Travelling is education in a passive way. One is taught habits, rules, food etc. are different everywhere. This helps me today, working with a variety of people as a guide. It's my pleasure now to take you around our most wonderful sights and spots. Bavaria and Munich are blessed with beauty, traditions, mountains, lakes, almost 1500 years of history and -not to forget - beer. It's still quite importang in Munich. Of course it is fun to spend some time in the famous Hofbräuhaus, but it would be a shame to only visit there when there are numerous sites to see outside of the beer halls. Beer history and the production of beer is an interesting and fascinating story. Good enough to spend some time on a specialized tour where I can show you some of Munich's hidden gems. Sadly, there are some dark spots in Bavarian history, too. The city is the birthplace of the Nazi movement and the first Concentration Camp was started in Dachau, which is less than 30 minutes from Munich's city center. I am a certified guide through the Memorial Site and have the ability to give you a German's perspective on the events leading up to WWII and the aftermath. All my tours are suggestions and created with experience from other guests. If you have other suggestions please let me know. Whether it is a Munich city center tour, a beer tour or a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, or maybe you like to learn more about the somber side of Munich at Dachau or see the Eagles Nest in Berchtesgaden, my tours are fully adaptalbe. Join my tour to these two most wonderful castles at Hoenschwangau village. Learn about my favorite figure in Bavarian History King Ludwig II. Well, everybody knows Neuschwanstein, the Castle Walt Disney copied for his "Cinderella Castle". Do you know Hohenschwangau Castle? Here King Ludwig grew up. Here he got his idea for Neuschwanstein. Get all the stories and historical facts about the "Fairy Tale King", his dreams and phantasies and why he was removed from the Throne of Bavaria. Once again: He is my favorite historical figure!
Franz Schega was outstanding in every respect. His pre-tour communication was timely and responsive. He served as a highly personable guide to both Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, providing interesting, relevant commentary on both castles. His comand of German history was exceptional, and rendered in a lucid, entertaining manner. His recommendations for further travel and for a restaurant this evening were excellent. We highly recommend Franz as a superior tour guide!
We had a terrific day with Franz visiting the castles in the countryside - Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. He worked hard to secure a wonderful van that would fit 5 comfortably. The day was perfectly planned - we went from place to place right on time. Franz secured all tickets in advance and a great place for lunch too. He is very knowledgeable about Ludwig 2 and explained lots of history throughout the day so we could get the most out of our castle visits. You can't go wrong with Franz - a great guy!

Expect a wonderful day at the Castles. Our trip by Train throug stunning bavarian landscape will take about 2:15 hours. (Train & Bus). Depending on the entrances (I will take care of that) we'll spend a most wonderful day at Hohenschwangau village. , visiting Hohenschwangau Castle as well as Hohenschwangau. Usually, we'll do the „old" one first. After that, we either get up the hill to Neuschwanstein or we do lunch. Enjoy a stress-free day. This tour is designed for four guests.
