Munich Third Reich Walking Tour

In 1913 Adolf Hitler came to Munich for the first time and he was immediately enthusiastic. He found this city to be a "real German city" and it quickly became clear that Munich would become his adopted home. So, it was Munich where he first joined a right-wing nationalist party. It was here in Munich that he gave his first political speech, founded the NSDAP, and wrote the first political program for that party. And it was Munich too, that in 1923, with the so-called "Hilter Putsch", he made that infamous coup attempt that failed but made him a hero beyond the borders of Munich. On this tour we will examine the role of Munich that led to the strengthening of the Nazis. Munich during the Nazi era will be a topic as well as resistance, the destruction, the reconstruction and also the difficult handling of the legacy from the Nazi era.

Due to the many locations and events related to the topic of "National Socialism in Munich", it is completely impossible to offer a tour that is even approximately chronological.
