Hitler in Munich- Third Reich - Half-Day Tour

Throughout the XIX th century Munich attracted artists, scientists, poets and intellectuals making it the most vibrant artistic city in Germany until WWI. What made this city unique was Munich's beer culture. The war years and also the inter-war period, marked a serious economic decline for the city and a steep radicalisation in politics. In 1918-1919 a Communist Revolution occurred in Munich. The revolutionaries imported from Russia, seized power in the city and established a "Soviet Republic" and made the Hofbrauhaus the "Suprem Soviet". Few months later Hitler founded his National Socialist German working Party on the top floor of the famous beer hall. In 1923 Hitler almost succeed to seize power in the Burgerbraukeller . Attempt known as the "Beer Hall Putch" By april 1945 sixty per cent of the city and most of the famous beer halls, had been destroyed. In three hours I will use the Hofbrauhaus and Munich's other beer halls as a sort of microscope to eximine the course of German history since 1914
