No one is more passionate about Bavaria. My love of the Bavarian culture and history has made me an authority on all things Bavarian! I am from the USA and have a Bachelor of Arts in German Language and History. After college I spent several years in the hospitality industry on Mackinac Island, Michigan, and was later Co-President of a successful plastic injection molding company. I'm also part-owner of a microbrewery in Michigan (which specializes in Bavarian beer and food), am a certified Diplom BierSommelier, and the first non-native member of the Aventinus-Buam. Having lived in the Bavarian capital of Munich for over 14 years, I am highly integrated into the culture and enjoy being a part of many Bavarian Stammtisch groups. With this insight, I will help you unlock that magic that is Bavaria! Diplom BierSommelier (Doemens Institute) Bachelor of Arts (German and History)

This tour offers the chance to get outdoors and enjoy the majestic Bavarian Alps. A train ride to the mountains, and a mostly downhill hike with breathtaking scenery - mountain vistas and a unique slot canyon. With your personal guide, you'll learn about the area's rich history and culture.
- Meet at the main train station and board the train for the 90 min ride to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. - Once there, bus (or walk) to the massive ski jump from the 1936 Olympics. Ride the ski lift up the mountain and enjoy the scenic alpine views. - Once at the top, it's a 10-minute walk to a mountain top restaurant for a lunch with a tremendous view toward the Schachenhaus, another of King Ludwig's creations. - After lunch, descend down a well-worn path. In total, we will give up 411 m of elevation (1, 348 ft) and the walk should take us about 90 minutes. - Next we enter the gorge. It was designated a natural monument in 1912. We will go through many dark tunnels and it's a bit wet. It's a long but flat walk out and back to the station. If desired, there are plenty of refreshment/beer gardens stops, and we can stop for dinner on the return journey. - Bring a raincoat and flashlight/torch - or use your cell phone's light.
