Munich is the world's most famous beer capital with a history of brewing going back over 800 years and on our 3-4 hour walking tour of the old town you can immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of Munich's beer scene and gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and history behind every beer. On your tour you will explore the story of how Munich and beer became so entwined. By walking the streets of the beautiful old city to see the many sites linked to brewing. • At 10. 45 you will meet me at the historic entrance to the old city, the Karlstor • From there you will begin a walking tour through the old city, our first stop is always the Augustiner Stammhaus. One of the best preserved 'beerpalaces' in Munich • After stopping here for a look at the architecture (and possibly a beer) we will delve into the medieval origins of monastic brewing in Munich before heading to the city centre to visit important landmarks such as St Peters church, the old town hall, the Residenz to see how politics, religion and even royalty all played an important part in Munich's beer brewing heritage. • As we stroll through the beautiful city there will also be more options to sample the best examples of Munich's beer and end your tour in a traditional local restaurant enjoying the local delicacies for a well earned lunch I can customize the tour upon request
