Hi. I was born in the heart of England and after graduating in history and archaeology from the University of Wales Bangor I spent a few years working as an archaeologist and historic conservator in some of the U. K's grandest castles and manors. I moved to Munich 12 years ago and since then I have worked as a tour guide covering all aspects of local history, from Munich's medieval origins to the Nazis. Over the years of working in I have developed a special interest in the local brewing history and beer drinking culture and as well as the history and palaces of the royal family. Medieval history and the early years of the Nazi's are also passions of mine. On my tours I love to look beyond the typical and delve more deeply into Munich's fascinating history and culture by showing my guests it's grandest palaces, hidden gems, traditional beerhalls and as much as we can squeeze in on a tour. My aim is to show you the best of Munich and provide for you an unforgettable day out. B.A (hons) in History and Archaeology M.A in Celtic Archaeology Trained in Historic Conservation Officially accredited and licensed guide for the Dachau Memorial I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Under 16s, although welcome to join with their families, are not allowed to drink beer on the history of beer tour

Munich is the world's most famous beer capital with a history of brewing going back over 800 years and on our 3-4 hour walking tour of the old town you can immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of Munich's beer scene and gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and history behind every beer. On your tour you will explore the story of how Munich and beer became so entwined. By walking the streets of the beautiful old city to see the many sites linked to brewing. Plus you will also visit some of the most traditional of Munich's beer halls to understand more about the culture and while you enjoy a beer your expert guide will explain about how beer and brewing traditions of the city have helped shape Munich to become what it is today.
• At 10. 45 you will meet me at the historic entrance to the old city, the Karlstor • From there you will begin a walking tour through the old city, our first stop is always the Augustiner Stammhaus. One of the best preserved 'beerpalaces' in Munich • After stopping here for a look at the architecture (and possibly a beer) we will delve into the medieval origins of monastic brewing in Munich before heading to the city centre to visit important landmarks such as St Peters church, the old town hall, the Residenz to see how politics, religion and even royalty all played an important part in Munich's beer brewing heritage. • As we stroll through the beautiful city there will also be more options to sample the best examples of Munich's beer and end your tour in a traditional local restaurant enjoying the local delicacies for a well earned lunch I can customize the tour upon request
