Grüß Gott, I'm Peter. I grew up in eastern Austria and have lived in Salzburg for more than 30 years. This is where my wife and I raised our children, and it is still the place I love to show off. For many years I have driven guests privately around Salzburg and across Austria, Bavaria, Switzerland and northern Italy. That is my strength on a tour: I know the back roads, where to park right next to the sights, the quiet viewpoints, and the hours when the big coaches have already left. You sit back in a comfortable private vehicle and I take care of the rest. My favourite days out: - the Sound of Music places in and around Salzburg - the lakes of the Salzkammergut and the lakeside village of Hallstatt - Berchtesgaden and the Königssee, just across the border in Bavaria - King Ludwig's fairy-tale castles, Neuschwanstein and Linderhof - in November and December, the Advent markets in the lake villages Every tour is private, just your family or friends. I plan the day around you: your pace, your interests, a lunch stop where the locals eat, and pick-up at your hotel or the train station. I work with a small team of local guides and drivers, so if you want a certified city guide for the old town, a second vehicle for a bigger group, or an airport transfer on the same trip, we arrange it together. Send me your dates and ideas, and I will suggest the best way to spend your day. I look forward to showing you my home.

Hallstatt is the picture-postcard village of Austria, and the drive there through the Salzkammergut lake district is half the pleasure. On this private day we take the scenic roads past Lake Fuschl to St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang, where Mozart's mother was born, then on through Bad Ischl, the summer town of Emperor Franz Joseph. In Hallstatt you have around two and a half hours: walk the lanes between the old houses, see the famous viewpoint over the lake, and if you like, ride the funicular up to the salt mine and the Skywalk. On the way back we stop in St. Wolfgang or at another lake, depending on your mood and the weather. Your own vehicle, your own pace, pickup and drop-off at your Salzburg hotel.
Pickup at your Salzburg hotel around 8:30. Drive past Lake Fuschl to St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang (photo and coffee stop, 30 min). Through Bad Ischl, the imperial summer town (short stop or drive-through). Hallstatt: about 2.5 hours for the old village, the lake viewpoint, the market square and lunch; optional funicular to the salt mine and the Skywalk viewing platform (tickets not included). Return along Lake Hallstatt and Lake Wolfgang with a stop in St. Wolfgang or at a lake viewpoint (30 min). Back in Salzburg in the late afternoon, drop-off at your hotel.
