Day tour of Sound of Music Sights and Eagle's Nest or Saltmine
Overview of your Salzburg tour
This is a full day tour to combine the sights of Sound of Music and Eagle's Nest, Eagle's Nest is only open from May to October. The trip takes you first on a city tour including the Mirabell gardens, festival hall, Stift Nonnberg Abbey, Palace Leopoldskron, Fronburg and the Gazebo in Hellbrunn. Then we drive to the area of Berchtesgaden to visit the Eagle's Nest or Saltmine, where you can have lunch. On the way to the lake district you will see the opening scenery. The tour takes you to the lakes Fuschlsee, Wolfgangsee, Krottensee and Mondsee. The Basilica of Mondsee is the highlight as it is the wedding church in the movie.

If you ever come to Vienna, DiDi is your guy. His vast knowledge is incredible. He not only tells you the history and significance of everywhere you visit, he and his family are a part of it. Didi is smart and engaging, interesting and insightful. The tour is also easy going...he is so accommodating. Will spend as much or as little time at a particular sight. Our day trip originating from Salzberg was one of the highlights of our vacation and primarily because we got to spend a day with DiDi.

Highly recommend Dieter. He was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. He picked us up on time at our hotel and showed us so much throughout Salzburg and the region. The trip to Eagles next and berteschgaden were highlights. As Sound of Music fans, he was informative about both the movie and the real life Von Trapps. All around great day!

Didi was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a very thorough tour of the Salzburg region in addition to the Eagles Nest and Hitler's Berghof house location. He speaks 6 languages, and I was amazed at this grasp of the history of European affairs. I am a WWI and WWII history buff and Didi had it down pat. He was outstanding and I highly recommend him. Also, his vehicle was first class.
