This personal, customizable tour covers the location of Adolf Hitler's former mountain home and Eagle's Nest retreat, plus the Nazi bunkers around Berchtesgaden, and the town of Berchtesgaden itself. Enjoy lunch in one of the typical Bavarian restaurants, after that either visit the 500-year-old Berchtesgaden salt mine or take a boat ride to St Bartholomew's Church on Lake Königssee, a stunning glacial lake that occupies a vast, peak-framed valley. My husband and I had an amazing full day private your with Michael Toth. We were picked up at our hotel in Salzburg, and had a fabulous experience at the Eagle's Nest, the Documentation Center, lunch in Berchtesgaden, and boat ride on Konigssee. Michael was extremely knowledgable, personable, and a pleasure to spend the day with. This tour is highly recommended.
This was our second tour with Michael (he's THAT good) and we loved it. He not only gave us an incredible tour of Eagle's Nest, but he explained a lot of the important history and then gave us several options for how to best use our time in the afternoon. We ultimately decided to visit the Salt Mines, which was absolutely fascinating (and we wouldn't have even thought to do this without his kind suggestion).
In all our travels, Michael is one of the best guides we've ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable, has a great personality and is the type of person with whom one would like to spend a day. He is very flexible and caters to his client's wishes. I highly recommend Michael.
Michael was terrific in every way: informative, efficient, considerate, and articulate. We were a diverse group (2 elders, 2 adults, and 2 tween boys), and yet Michael paid special attention to each of us. He guided us through the Eagle's Nest and took us to the Salt Mines, but he also accommodated our special requests. His knowledge of both local and global history and culture was impressive. We just did a private all day tour with Michael. Michael was professional, knowledgeable, and displayed a great sense of humor. Early on he communicated with us to find out what we wanted to see and do, offered suggestions, and had back up plans in case weather interfered. He picked us up at our hotel in a brand new Mercedes van. It snowed and rained off and on during our whole tour. Michael kept us engaged the whole time. - Begin your morning with panoramic views across the Alps from Hitler's historic mountain retreat, known as the Eagle's Nest, it takes around 45 to one hour, depending on the traffic. . - Descending from the Obersalzberg, on the way to the town of Berchtesgaden, we will also show you the underground bunker complexes (closed on Tuesday), and the location where Adolf Hitler had his house the Berghof. Then visit the town of Berchtesgaden with your Guide and have time to purchase lunch in one of the typical Bavarian restaurants (own expense). - In the afternoon you can choose between exploring the underground world of a 500 year old salt mine or taking a boat ride to St Bartholomew's on the Königsee, a glacial lake situated in a valley surrounded by the Bavarian Alps.
