Servus in Austria, exploring the nature, taking my guests on tours to places "seen through the eyes of the locals" - in a respectful way - that's my passion. I was born and raised in Salzburg and after high school and my education in tourism & travel business I moved to Lake Wolfgangsee into the heart of the Salzburg Lake District Area in 1990. Together with my family I live in the village of Strobl. I personal love beeing out in the nature, exploring and doing different activities in the seasons all year round (hiking, cycling, climbing, snowshoe-hiking, ski-mountaineering). The natural beauty with it's 76 Lakes and the surrounding mountains, the history and culture as well as the people made me feel like home. I live my profession as a Nature-Tour-Guide. Hiking-Tour on very old pilgrims trails (appr. 1000 years to christ) - beautiful landscapes, lakeside, and mountains - Tourstart in St. Gilgen (place of birth mother Mozart) - total hiking time appr. 3 1/2 hours and climb appr. 200 m - trail mostly gravel paths - possibility for lunch or snacks appr. half of the way Visit the old town of St. Wolfgang (target for all pilgrims), the famous church, shops, and cozy coffee shops. Boat-Cruise back to St. Gilgen and Taxi to Salzburg.
Rudi is a great guide, knowledgeable about the Salzburg area, easy to spend the day with, kind, and attentive to his clients. If you are looking for a day hike in country outside of Salzburg, my wife and I would highly recommend him!
Stop here ! You have found the perfect guide! We spent an entire beautiful day hiking with Rudy. He’s so knowledgeable- has spent a lifetime in these mountains and on these lakes. Rudy is super personable and just a great guy to be with. He could not have been more accommodating and he very thoughtfully planned a day of lake and mountain hiking which ended us in St Wolfgang where he explained the history of the area. After some refreshments and sightseeing, we rode the boat back to St Gilgan. Just a lovely way to see the countryside with a real gentleman. We even received a hand-made charm from his mother-in-law :). This was an experience (and guide) we will always remember!
We had a lovely day with Rudi, hiking about 10 KM over the course of the day, including a wonderful viewing point of the Lake, about 200 meters up. We learned about the area’s history and ended the day with a stop for ice cream, and a boat trip to other side of the Lake, where the car was parked. The scenery is absolutely stunning, could have stayed for a week! Rudi is a delightful person and we will always have fond memories of our day together.

Our tour will start in Salzburg. I will pick you up at your hotel, from there we drive directly into the countryside, the Lakes District Area (wonderful landscapes, mountains and lakes). Drivingtime about 30 min. We start our hiking tour with a short walk through the center of St. Gilgen, see interesting places, the house of birth Mother W. A. Mozart, Mozart-Place and the colourful market square. Along the lakeside on gentle paths towards wooden area of Fuerberg. From there we climb the Falkenstein (appr. 200 m climb), very interesting religious places we will discover (rock-chapel, eye water source ect. ) From Falkenstein we descent with great views, along meadows and wooden areas down to the village of St. Wolfgang. Time for rest (lunch or coffee and nice cakes) and the visit of the historcal places. Later we will take the cruiseboat back to St. Gilgen (appr. 45 min. ) and our taxi back to Salzburg (appr. 30 min. )
