Hello ! I am a native of Salzburg and I have been working in the tourist business since 1996. Initially being a tour guide was more a student job besides my studies of business administration, in which I have an MBA degree. After a while I noticed that this is not only a job, it is my real passion. Since then, I have been doing tours in large parts of Europe on coaches, minivans and ships during river cruises. Certainly, I am specialized in the Alpine region, particularly in the Salzburg and Bavarian area. My favorite tours are the lakes district tour to Hallstatt, the Bavarian mountains (Eagle's Nest, salt mines and Lake Königssee), the Ice Caves, Innsbruck and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. My goal is showing my clients the most beautiful and interesting sights of my area and also places which are off the beaten tracks on private tours in my own Mercedes van. Apart from my mother language German, I am fluent in English and Spanish and can provide a big knowledge of history and geography in a relaxed way. In my free time I love to go mountain hiking, sailing and skiing. Additionally I am very interested in magic art and I am member of the magical society in Salzburg for many years. I have a license for the conveyance of passengers. I have a MBA degree for business administration. I am a professional driver-guide with an own company and minivan. I do not offer walking tours in cities in Austria, I only provide guided tours on my van.

Experience Salzburg, worldwide known as the birthplace of Mozart and the city of Sound of Music. Also called as "Rome of the North" Salzburg owes its fame to its magnificent monuments in predominant Baroque style. The city was declared to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has been ruled by the prince-archbishops for many centuries, who left their traces and created a cultural and historical heritage of unique importance and beauty. Renowned architects and artists worked throughout the centuries and built architectural jewels as the fortress of Hohensalzburg, the Cathedral and many glorious palaces. This full day city tour will not give you a general overview of Salzburg City only, it will give you a real deep insight of this wonderful city. As a native I am very passionate of my city and I connect many beautiful experiences with many interesting sights. As I grew up in Salzburg, I know the city from my youth up till now and can tell you a lot of stories and background information as well.

In our travels around Europe and USA, we have found private tours to be quite beneficial. Getting to know a city from a locals perspective is key. Marcus did not disappoint. We were able to accomplish and see so much of beautiful Salzburg and her historical sights from Maribel Garden to the fortress and churches as well as many of the filming sights for The Sound of Music. Marcus also made sure to book us at a restaurant for lunch that has some of the finest views in Salzburg. Would highly recommend Marcus as a tour guide.
Marcus is a gem! His van was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and he is an excellent driver and narrator. We were able to see locations we could never have covered on foot, including Mt. Untersberg, - the best! Marcus is a thoughtful and delightful host, with deep historical knowledge and a true love of Salzburg. His insider details on local experiences, food and even Sound of Music lore (and use of the Salzburg Card) were fantastic and helped us make the most of our three day visit. Highly Recommend!
Marcus is an excellent communicator! He is strategic in communicating specific points along the journey. He weaves conversation into his historical and cultural teachings in an impressive manner. Our tour felt like an 8 hour conversation - not a planned excursion. We highly recommend Marcus as your guide! Mark, Sara, Sally & Carole From Oklahoma
Marcus did an amazing job. I would highly recommend him as a knowledgeable guide for Austria! He was flexible and knew the answer to EVERY question we asked. He was truly a LOCAL guide not like guides who read from a script.
