Home of Mozart and the Sound of Music, where culture, history and architecture are surrounded by the majestic Alps and the breathtaking Lake District. Carlos was an amazing tour guide. The tour was phenomenal. This was my second SOM tour, the first one being four hours and we saw so much more on this tour. My favorite part was going up in the Alps. We saw where the final scene was filmed, where the opening scene was filmed, and where the children play during do-re-me. Not to mention our Mercedes van was really nice. Thank you Carlos!!

Phenomenal Private Tour for Sound of Music Fans My wife and I did the private “The Hills Are Alive” tour with Carlos, and it was unforgettable. Carlos was EXCEPTIONAL—his knowledge of the film, the real filming locations, and behind-the-scenes trivia was absolutely PHENOMENAL. We visited all the famous spots, but what made this tour truly unique were the off-the-beaten-path locations big buses can’t access—like seeing the actual mountaintop where Julie Andrews sang “The Hills Are Alive.” Standing there was magical. Carlos made every stop meaningful, blending history, scenery, and film lore seamlessly. His passion and enthusiasm were infectious, and the entire experience exceeded expectations. If you love the movie—or just want a once-in-a-lifetime Salzburg tour—this is it.

Your Salzburg tour itinerary
Start your day with a Walk through the Mirabell gardens, famous across the world for the Do-Re-Mi scenes filmed here. Drive up to one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the city, immortalized in Do-Re-Mi, with a fantastic view over the entire city of Salzburg and its millennium fortress. Head back in the luxury minivan and drive past the horse baths and the festival halls on your way to Leopoldskron Palace. After a short stop at Leopoldskron, drive on to the palace of Hellbrunn where you will have the chance to visit the original gazebo and gardens. Then, leave the city and drive south into the stunning Bavarian mountains where the opening scene was filmed. Now is your chance to spin in the field, reenacting the opening scene. Afterwards, head to the top of the Sound of Music trail, where the picnic scene from the movie was shot. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view. The final portion of the tour will take you through the Austrian Lake District and to the "Sound of Music" wedding cathedral in Mondsee.
