Hi, my name is Mario and I am an Azorean born local guide in Azores.

Since the year 2000, I have been transmitting to my clients, the best experiences, traditions, history and culture of the Azorean Island of S Miguel.
My goal is to make you feel one of us, getting to know our historical traditions, having gastronomic experiences, tasting the best of our local products, visiting the immense natural park that we are, bathing in our natural heated pools.

All this, in relaxed and compelling private tours, friendly environment, as if you were with a group of friends just getting the best of your stay.

What I do is what I love to do. And I do it passionately because I love my Island.

I may say that I am fortunate to have the profession that I chose, which I believe is the key to be able to transmit and make my "Guests" feel at home and part of a community, enjoying every bit of their stay.

On this tour along the West Coast of the island of S. Miguel, I take you to visit the most iconic place in the Azores, the volcanic crater of Sete Cidades and its Green and Blue Lakes. 

We pass by Pico do Carvão, where we can enjoy a wonderful view of the central part of the island with its Mountains of Fogo and Vara in the background. 

At Vista do Rei, we can appreciate the unique beauty of this dormant volcano following a brief stop at the bridge that separates the Green and Blue of this lagoon. 

In the parish, simple and beautiful, time to walk to the side of the lagoon, visit the church of St Nicolau, or simply have a coffee with the local people. 

We then drive back to Ponta Delgada, in time to visit the pineapple production greenhouses, with a unique flavor in the world, and enjoy a tasting from the same fruit while learning about the history of its production.

Sete Cidades Volcano - Green & Blue Lakes

Imagine yourself inside a volcano, where steaming boilers abound and the FOOD is cooked under the ground, where you can bathe in iron water at 39ºC and stroll through an exotic Botanical Garden.

Get ready for a MEMORABLE day. What I propose is a true odyssey for your senses, awakening the best sensations in each one, supported by centuries and centuries of tradition from these inhabitants of the Furnas volcano. We start with Tea, from Gorreana of course, produced in the only industrial plantation in Europe. 

The "Cozido das Furnas" dish, cooked under the ground with the volcanic heat, which gives a unique flavor, is a gastronomic specialty of our Island. A true delicacy of the gods. 

Finally, the cheesecake from Vila Franca do Campo, whose secret is kept under lock and key. Curious!
