Guide #54630
Olá Tiago here. I'm a local guide, born and bred in Madeira and I offer unique jeep and walking tours around the island. I felt in love by nature around my 20's when I was camping, walking, barbecuing on a regular basis, so it became clear what I wanted to do for the rest of my life: to be outside, exploring and sharing the magnificent beauty of the place where I was born. At the age of 21 I flew to Azores archipelago to follow my passion and took my degree in Tourism and Heritage. Concluded in 2014, I came back to Madeira and had a very positive experience doing jeep tours for 2 years. But the university bug was teasing me to travel a bit more and I ended up going to Iceland for two years. There, I learned a new skill. Cooking. I've shared kitchen with Michelin star chefs as well as working in Michelin guide restaurants. It was a wonderful experience but imagine a madeiran, used to shorts and flip flops, in the artic circle? Yes, you guessed it right, I couldn't handle the low temperatures and was missing my uncle Sun! =) Missing my dear island as well as the regular days (6 months day, 6 months night just killed me), I flew back in 2019, craving to be back in tourism, with the will to give back to this amazing place. You might look at Madeira thinking that it's a small easy to explore island . You couldn't be more wrong. Endless things to try, to do, to see. It's hard to admit but even I don't know all of what the island has to offer. I think that's positive and motivational, there will be always a place or and activity to discover. With great travel, comes great responsibility and I couldn't agree more. As a nature ambassador, I truly believe in tourism sustainability, so on every tour that I offer, I always try to include some sort of green activity. As soon as we meet, you'll quickly realize how much love I have for this paradisiac and unique place. With no further delay, take a look at the available tours and choose the one that suits you. If you can't find one, there's always the chance of building your own. Count on me for whatever you need. Amazing! We had a great time with Tiago, and covered a lot of ground on the island. He is a native of Madeira and has a lot to share about its history, nature, and culture. We would definitely book another tour with him while here!
This was our first port stop of seven on a transatlantic cruise. After our trip was over, we discussed which was our favorite port - and this stop in Funchal, Madeira may have topped our list. Not only because it is such an interesting, beautiful place, but also due to the great tour that we got from Tiago. He was amazing - so knowledgeable and passionate about his...
