Other than spending five years in Portland, Oregon (US) from age 7 to 12, I have lived in the Tokyo area all my life. I was extremely lucky to be able to see a different culture as well as start learning English at a young age - it's certainly helping with what I do now! After about 10 years in the container shipping industry, I became a tour guide back in 2015. My tour guiding focuses on central Tokyo and done with use of the excellent public transportation system - perhaps one of the most efficient in the entire world. Not only is it the best way to quickly get around the city, it also gives you a good view of the way of life for locals living in Tokyo. After doing a tour with me, you should feel confidence in navigating the area by yourself and feel like you are a resident of the city yourself! My tours should also be a good alternative to bus tours, since you have more freedom and the chance to directly ask me about any questions regarding Tokyo and Japan. In my days off, I like to follow my favorite baseball team, occasionally attending games and enjoying the atmosphere. The Jingu Stadium in Tokyo is my favorite spot to watch the game. I am also a big fan of sumo and the opportunity to work on a project with a few retired sumo wrestlers allowed me to gain extensive knowledge of this sport which I would love to share with you in some of my sumo-themed tours. Most of the tours I deliver follow the pre-determined theme and itinerary that is published on this website but I am open to customizing certain parts of the tour. I do have a preference to show you the quieter areas of the city, the "other side" that has not been impacted by the huge influx of tourists. I look forward to seeing you in Tokyo! ---Qualifications--- Working as tour guide since 2015 National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (2012) Domestic Travel Service Supervisor (2020) Graduate of Waseda University, School of Political Science and Economics in Tokyo (2004) ---Transportation--- Tours are provided with the combination of walking and use of public transport. I do not offer the option of using a private vehicle for the entire duration of the tour. ---Restriction--- I am available to do half day tours and not a full day or multi-day itinerary.
