Explore Yokohama your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Yokohama tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Yokohama for every interest, including:

History tours: Trace the opening of the port in Kannai, stepping into the Port Opening Memorial Hall and the Yokohama Archives of History before walking the harbour-side Red Brick Warehouse area. Many tours add Sankeien Garden to explore relocated teahouses and a 3‑storied pagoda.

Religious Sites tours: Visit Iseyama Kotai Jingu for a quiet shrine ritual and city views, then head to Sojiji Temple in Tsurumi for a short zazen experience arranged in advance. You can also stop at Kanteibyo in Chinatown to see incense offerings and learn the story of Guan Yu.

Shopping tours: Stroll Motomachi Shopping Street for Japanese denim, custom shoes, and pâtisseries with help on sizing and tax-free paperwork. Then browse Chinatown’s herbal shops and snack stands, or explore Queen’s Square and seasonal markets at the Red Brick on curated shopping tours.

Minato Mirai, Motomachi, and Chinatown are easy to cover on foot, and trains plus the Minatomirai Line make longer hops simple. If you prefer door-to-door comfort, ask about chauffeured tours or private transportation.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Yokohama inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Yokohama

From Yokohama, coastal towns, hot spring hills, and temple districts are close enough for fast train rides, so you can plan easy day trips without losing time in transit. These day trips work smoothly with flexible tours, which makes it simple to match your interests to the route.

Kamakura: Big temples tucked into green valleys, the Great Buddha, and sandy beaches give you a simple mix of history and sea air, and your tour can link quiet bamboo groves with a short hike to a ridge view and a stop for matcha.

Hakone: Hot spring villages, Lake Ashi boats, and open air art sit under changing views of Mount Fuji, and with switchback trains and ropeways tying it together, your tour can balance scenic rides with a soak and a walk through cedar paths.

Enoshima: A causeway island with tide pools, caves, and hilltop views that reach the Shonan coast, good for sunset photos and fresh seafood lunches, and your tour can pace the stairs, lighthouse lookout, and beach time to suit your energy.

Kawasaki: Around Daishi Temple and retro shopping streets you can graze on snacks and see classic crafts, then later catch factory night views that glow along the canals, and your tour can add a stop at the folk house museum for a look at rural homes moved to the city.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Yokohama most travellers miss.
