Note to travelers - I would encourage you to contact me before making your reservation, so that I can provide an experience that best meets your interest or needs. Hi! I am Kentaro (or "Ken"), working as a nationally licensed tour guide since 2015. Other than spending five years of my childhood in the US (State of Oregon), I have lived in the Greater Tokyo area my entire life. After graduating from college, I initially spent about 10 years working with a container shipping company headquartered in Singapore before making the shift to the tourism industry. My tour guiding focuses on central Tokyo and use the excellent public transportation system - perhaps one of the most efficient in the entire world. Not only is it the best way to quickly get around the city, it also gives you a good view of the way of life for locals living in Tokyo. After doing a tour with me, you should feel a lot more confident in being able to navigate the city on your own. I have tours of various themes suitable not just for first-time visitors to the city but repeating travelers who are seeking something different from their previous stays. During my time off, I also like to travel internationally just like you; I've done many visits to various parts of both Europe and Asia. Some of my tour content is inspired from my own experience of traveling. Thanks for reading this far into my profile and I look forward to assisting you with your Tokyo stay! ---Qualifications--- National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (2012-) Domestic Travel Service Supervisor (2020-) ---Transportation--- Tours are provided with the combination of walking and use of public transport. I do not offer the option of using a private vehicle. ---Restriction--- Due to my other work, I cannot do tours that would span multiple dates.

This tour with a niche theme is intended mainly for fans of Japanese architecture or guests who have seen the movie about them. It was back in 2020 when some of the top names in Japanese architecture joined a project to redesign public restrooms in Tokyo's Shibuya district. The project got additional attention when Wim Wenders featured them in his film "Perfect Days" . The itinerary will allow for a quick sample of the different styles of each of the architects including Tadao Ando and Kengo Kuma. A total of 17 toilets opened within a span of 4 years, from 2020-2023. The visit will include several key locations featured in the film, such as the lush green space where Hirayama, the main character always had his lunch. Because of the very specific approach of this tour, guests seeking a more general guidance of Tokyo would be advised to look into my other tours.
This is a project that is entirely in the Shibuya area of Tokyo but it is spread out, so we will be doing short rides on the trains in addition to walking between the sites. On this tour, you will see works by the following Japanese architects. *Tadao Ando *Kengo Kuma *Fumihiko Maki *Toyo Ito *Shigeru Ban We will finish at Ebisu Station, which is linked to the major attractions of the city either through the Yamanote Line or Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.
