Dobrodošli or Welcome to Dubrovnik region!

My name is Goran. Born and raised in Croatia, I do live in the Dubrovnik region and I love it! I have been working in tourism/sales-related services for nearly 15 years as well as a guide and a tour leader. For a couple of years, I have worked for a big cruise line company in a hotel department. After I settled back here in Dubrovnik, I started to work as a trip leader, cruise manager and as local guide on my own as well, cooperating with different tour operators and agencies. Since my aim is now to spend more time here in the region, I decided to join ToursByLocals to offer tours to my area.

Being able to travel and being thankful for that, I was able to explore, "taste", feel and discover many different places nearby and around the world. Furthermore, I studied at the university here in Dubrovnik and obtained a degree in tourism/management back in 2004. Uuhh. . . a long time ago. . .
My goal is to provide you with an experience, not just a product of the destination in a professional, educational, interesting and always friendly and casual way.

I am aware that every person together with every experience of any kind is always a new one and different.
To all my fellow travellers I want to allow you to experience real places and local people. There is no better way to have a great, authentic and inspirational travel experience than to see, touch, hear, taste and feel the places you are visiting.

A great insight into the area near Dubrovnik. A quick stop for a great photo opportunity overlooking Dubrovnik Old Town. Drive through the village of Kupari and observe the hotel military complex.

You will be able to see the facilities devastated during the war. Quite a story that it still remains just like "a day after"?!  Driving through nearby villages will offer great viewpoints. 
How about a local drink or refreshment along the way in a local tavern?

The road will take us above the town to explore and find out secrets about the Napoleonic fortress located on Srđ Hill. There is a war museum dedicated to the '90s and all tragic events that took place in Dubrovnik. A great ride downhill will take us to the last viewpoint above the harbour and starting point. Great way to feel and learn about Dubrovnik and its vicinity!

Experience Dubrovnik Vicinity Shore Excursion

This experience will give you an insight into the southernmost county in Croatia while we drive through the largest valley in the region. Konavle is an area full of unique traditions from wine, olive growing, silk production, and folkloric heritage together with beautiful nature and landscape making it one of the great areas to have an authentic and unique experience.

"Get a taste" of Old villages, traditional smokehouses, and water mills, Learn &amp; Discover old traditions, local crafts &amp; gastronomy, and explore medieval fortress along a short walk through a forest along a river stream. It looks magnificent and it has been a border and important stronghold during the 15-16 centuries. For more than 300 years it has been completely forgotten. It offers a stunning view of the valley from the other side and the fortress itself has been renovated.

As a local guide, I know where to try local drink refreshments in a traditional environment and finish our tour by walking through the picturesque town of Cavtat

Dubrovnik South-East Countryside and Riviera - Shore Excursion

Great way to see old remote villages and enjoy stunning views drive above the Adriatic road. With great views, we will reach the Peljesac peninsula and the town of Ston.

I will show you one of the largest oyster and mussel farms in the Adriatic. If you are a seafood lover as I am, this is a great opportunity to try some of the freshest products. Experience the tranquillity of the small town of Ston around 30 miles away from Dubrovnik where I will share about the great Ston walls.

For hundreds of years, locals have been producing the salt there and remains of still active saltworks are there to be visited. Seeing Ston and visiting saltworks, I will introduce you to the local life at present as well as the history of the area. During free time for exploration, you may decide to conquer the walls as well! 

A great way to spend a day in the vicinity of Dubrovnik!
