My name is Melinda and I am a licensed tour guide for Hungary. I'm very lucky as my job is also my passion. . .
I have been guiding for years, I have worked with reputable companies such as Viking, Tauck, Scenic, AValon, AMA Waterways, etc. However, my favourite tours are the ones with smaller groups and guiding individual travellers- there is more personal touch, plenty of time for chatting, so the trip can be a more memorable and unique experience. I am a keen traveller myself, too, I had the wonderful opportunity to live in Turkey and Italy for a while, great experience which I will never forget.
I am definitely not an office person. I enjoy being out and about the whole day, feeling the athmosphere of the city, walking in the picturesque cobbled streets of downtown Budapest and the countryside, sharing my stories with others. I am a flea-market goer and keen on antiques.
I also have a WSET qualification in Hungarian wines so I will happily discuss any wine related topics on my tours.
To me every corner tells a story about the past and every street leads somewhere worth exploring. I would love to show you the true face of Budapest and this country and also give you an insight into the daily life here. What can you expect on my tours? I like to have fun and like it when those around me are also having a great time. I am very sociable and during my tours we will sometimes meet and chat with locals. We can also discuss authentic and contemporary issues, matters of daily life and anything else that you would like to know.
I was the lucky guide of Matt Long, publisher of Landlopers, you can read his article about our tour or copy paste the following link http://landlopers. com/2015/01/11/touring-with-loca.
ALL MY TOURS ARE FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE!
I am very flexible about our itinerary so it is not a problem if you want to change the schedule. I am well aware that your time here is precious and I would like to make sure that your tour is full, interesting, engaging, fun, and informative.
We can travel via public transport, walk or I can arrange a car or minibus. Just contact me and I can customize the tour to meet your needs. So my tour ideas are rather recommendations, feel free to ask for any specials.
I very much look forward to hearing from you and making sure your time in Hungary is special and memorable.
A Recent Review of this guide
The culinary tour was day 2 of our time with Melinda. We enjoyed the different foods we sampled and loved ending our time at the Ruins Bar. A great experience!
