Pearls of Budapest with a Traditional Lunch!

My wife and I did a walking tour of Budapest with Baeta and were concerned about it being scheduled as a 4 hour tour during record breaking heat. She made the tour so fun and interesting that when we sat down for our authentic Hungarian lunch together we then realized that the 4 hours had flown by. It was our last of 10 days of tours between Prague and Budapest and we learned more and laughed more on this tour then all the others combined . I’ll always remember our delightful discussion of the Hofi sculpture depicting the head of the comedian (the people) in the hand of the stiletto wearing skeleton (representing the seduction of the promises of communism ??) which made us arm chair philosophers truly giddy with excitement over our thought provoking conclusion !! I highly recommend touring with Baeta if smiling and learning is something you enjoy !

This tour was a fantastic choice for myself and my family. There were four of us. The small size allowed for lots of individualization as the tour progressed. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about Budapest and you could feel her love of her city. She started our tour off by introducing us to public transportation and booted pest, which was incredibly helpful for the duration of our stay. When we saw something that we wanted to linger on that was possible because we didn’t have a jampacked strict agenda to follow. She shared the history of her beautiful city. I personally was amazed at how resilient Budapest is. I was truly unaware of how much tragedy Hungary had endured. she helped us recognize and void tourist traps that would have cost us a lot of money. She helped us recognize things to partake in that were very authentic and not just targeted for tourists. She took us to a family owned Hungarian restaurant near Central market. We had an opportunity to taste very good authentic Hungarian food. The restaurant had been in the same location and owned by the same family for over 100 years, Pipaetterem. She had a great sense of humor and was so fun to talk with throughout the tour. We could not have picked a better person to introduce us to the city of Budapest.

Beata helped us enjoy a wonderful afternoon in Budapest. She excelled at sharing the local side of her city and blending the history and current events/culture. The food and market experiences were a highlight. She was very helpful in giving tips to help us tweak the rest of our plans to fit our interests.
