I was born in Budapest in 1967 and I have always lived in this beautiful city. Qualified in 1993, I work as a full-time professional tour guide in the Hungarian capital. Out of showing the most beautiful sights and monuments, I would like to present our culture, traditions and everyday life in my way: brought to life with many personal stories and memories. My main profile is organizing walking tours in Budapest, e. g. : a comprehensive WORLD HERITAGE TOUR and shorter walks to explore the good old Buda Castle, the hidden treasures of the City Park or the dramatic sites of FAITH, COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP and THE 1956 NATIONAL REVOLUTION. My main hobbies are studying about arts and history, as well as organizing tours, excursions and club activities for tour guides in Budapest as a member of the national tour guide association. It is an other story: I am also a member of the Hungarian Vegan association. Licensed guide in English and Italian, national certification in 1993. Graduated in art history. My tours are only by walking and using public transportation. While I'm not a driver, I can arrange private car/van for you if needed.

Overview of your Budapest tour

During two days we will cover the most important monuments of Budapest with their stories and legends and the amazing urban landscape. Together will explore both sides of the river, with two main cathedrals, a great synagogue, the Medieval castle quarter, the Parliament, Market hall, Heroes' Square. These are also the best places to take photos. We can follow a flexible itinerary discussed in advance. You will explore the city in a relaxed way. If you have mobility issues, we can walk in a slower pace, we will often use the excellent public transport service of the city, and we will sit down whenever you wish. Two days will offer enough time to go into the details and respond to all your questions. You will see thousands of buildings as a visible heritage of the last 200 years of history. While exploring the monuments, we will recall the good old days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but also the events of the nightmarish WW2, the scary Communist dictatorship and the brave 1956 national revolution.

Adam is wonderful, and we truly enjoyed spending two great days in Budapest with him as our guide. Adam consistently went above and beyond to make sure our tour was enjoyable, comfortable, and tailored to our needs. Our whole family was very impressed with Adam’s knowledge of the history, culture, and tradition of Budapest. His passion for sharing the city’s beauty and heritage made every moment memorable. He is kind and patient, and always listened attentively to our interests and requests. He also introduced us to wonderful local restaurants and authentic Hungarian cuisine, allowing us to experience the city like the locals do while covering all of the must-see attractions. One special recommendation—be sure to ask Adam to arrange a ride on the hot air balloon! Seeing the gorgeous panoramic views of Budapest from above was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our entire European trip. We highly recommend Adam to anyone looking for an exceptional private guide in Budapest. Thank you, Adam, for helping our family create lasting memories!

Adam has a wonderful amount of knowledge on Hungary. Its places and history came alive as he took us around the city. He loves Hungary and Budapest and helped us to have a greater appreciation for its beauty and people.

This tour is one of the best we have had with Tours by Locals. Adam showed us Budapest we wouldn't have appreciated without his incredible knowledge of the city's history. He had pictures of what things looked in the past and what we they are now. We didn't have to fall in line for tickets at the sights because he knew the fastest way to get them. We loved the fact that we used public transport because we saw the local way of life. Adam's love for the city shined in the way he talked about the history and culture of Buda and Pest. Adam was funny and kind and we highly recommend his tour.

Adam, was great guide. He whisked around Budapest over our two days with him and even took the time to find and drop us off at our tour boat docked way out of the city center where we were staying. He is kind, patient, and has a knowledge of the city, it's history and culture which is amazing. We saw all the sites, which he explained in detail. He also tried to explain the recent past from 1989 to today and how the city is changing physically, socially, economically and politically. You will learn all you need to know about Budapest with Adam as your tour guide. Jimmy P

Your Budapest tour itinerary

My proposal: 1st day: - Visit Buda Castle, the Royal Palace, Matthias Church and Fishermen's Bastion - Enjoy the view of the Danube and its bridges. - Take a bus/subway across the river and go to the Pest side to visit St Stephen's Basilica and the Danube bank. - The tour can end in Pest center at the main shopping street Váci utca. 2nd day: - Start around the Parliament. - Take a tram and go for a shopping in the Central Market Hall (except Sunday). - Walk to the Great Synagogue and the Jewish quarter. - Take the old metro (built in 1896) with a quick stop to explore Andrassy Avenue and the Opera Theatre. - Visit Heroes' Square, the City Park, its Romantic castle and Szechenyi termal bath. We can follow a flexible schedule: 2 half days, 1.5 days or 2 full days, as you prefer. In case of a full day tour we can have a lunch break during the tour. Thus a full day tour will normally take 5-6 hours without lunch time. Optional inner visits of the sights, skip-the line church entries are possible.
