Dear Traveller, Welcome to my site and thanks for stopping by! My name is Melinda and I am a licensed tour guide for Hungary. I'm very lucky as my job is also my passion. . . I have been guiding for years, I have worked with reputable companies such as Viking, Tauck, Scenic, AValon, AMA Waterways, etc. However, my favourite tours are the ones with smaller groups and guiding individual travellers- there is more personal touch, plenty of time for chatting, so the trip can be a more memorable and unique experience. I am a keen traveller myself, too, I had the wonderful opportunity to live in Turkey and Italy for a while, great experience which I will never forget. I am definitely not an office person. I enjoy being out and about the whole day, feeling the athmosphere of the city, walking in the picturesque cobbled streets of downtown Budapest and the countryside, sharing my stories with others. I am a flea-market goer, keen on antiques and I also paint. I have a WSET qualification in Hungarian wines so I will happily discuss any wine related topics on my tours. To me every corner tells a story about the past and every street leads somewhere worth exploring. I would love to show you the true face of Budapest and this country and also give you an insight into the daily life here. What can you expect on my tours? I like to have fun and like it when those around me are also having a great time. I am very sociable and during my tours we will sometimes meet and chat with locals. We can also discuss authentic and contemporary issues, matters of daily life and anything else that you would like to know. **** Media appearances: I took part in filming for the BBC 'The One Show' - we filmed an insert for the show in Budapest, I was the guide of the film crew and also appeared on screen Cooperation on the American Airlines On Flight Magazine - Budapest edition I was also the lucky guide of Matt Long, publisher of Landlopers, you can read his article here: https://landlopers.com/2015/01/11/touring-with-local **** ALL MY TOURS ARE FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE! I am very flexible about our itinerary so it is not a problem if you want to change the schedule. I am well aware that your time here is precious and I would like to make sure that your tour is full, interesting, engaging, fun, and informative. We can travel via public transport, walk or I can arrange a first class van or minibus. Just contact me and I can customize the tour to meet your needs. So my tour ideas are rather recommendations, feel free to ask for any specials. I very much look forward to hearing from you and making sure your time in Hungary is special and memorable. Licensed guide in English - Hungarian Trade Licensing Office Dohany street Great Synagogue - certified and licenced guide License for the Esztergom Bazilika and Treasury History Teacher BA degree Grand Circle Program Director Training WSET basic level certificate in Hungarian wines I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, the only exception is the Hungarian Parliament and the Opera house where they have their own guides and organize their own tours

Once one of the largest Jewish Communities of Europe, Budapest was home to more than 200000 Jews. Starting at the heart of the Jewish District, this comprehensive tour shows you all the iconic buildings of Jewish Budapest and teaches you about the incredibly rich history of the Hungarian Jews. You will not only hear stories about the past but I will share to you how the city has evolved to reflect today's changing culture. As we stroll down the streets you I will tell a lot of fascinating stories - some of them are my own family stories - and we will discuss contemporary political issues, as well. By the end of the 4 hours I hope you will be able to connect the dots between all things, Hungarian and Jewish. As licensed guide to the Great Synagogue I can skip the lines at the entrance and have no restrictions in guiding inside the building complex. Let's explore Jewish Budapest together! NOTE: If you would like to add private transportation to this tour please contact me for a tailor made proposal.

Excellent tour. Melinda was very well informed with a lovey personality. We enjoyed it very much.
Melinda was a wonderful tour guide for this most interesting part of Budapest and her knowledge of Jewish history was highly impressive. Melinda met us promptly in our agreed location and we instantly warmed to her endearing personality and sunny nature. Our four hours with her went far too quickly and yet she covered a lot of ground and was most flexible with a few refreshment breaks or a chance for us to sit down when needed! I cannot recommend Melinda highly enough. By the end of our time with Melinda we felt we had undoubtedly met the best guide and a new friend! It was definitely the highlight of our three days in the magnificent city of Budapest.
Wonderful guide-very knowledgable. Her heart was in this tour.
Very interesting and historic area. Melinda is vey knowledgeable and explains the area and history well. But beyond that she is observant and kind. As older travelers she made sure there were places to sit and bathrooms were pointed out. She is willing to adapt to the needs of her audience. Super person.
