Dear Traveller, Welcome to my site and thanks for stopping by! My name is Melinda and I am a licensed tour guide for Hungary. I'm very lucky as my job is also my passion. . . I have been guiding for years, I have worked with reputable companies such as Viking, Tauck, Scenic, AValon, AMA Waterways, etc. However, my favourite tours are the ones with smaller groups and guiding individual travellers- there is more personal touch, plenty of time for chatting, so the trip can be a more memorable and unique experience. I am a keen traveller myself, too, I had the wonderful opportunity to live in Turkey and Italy for a while, great experience which I will never forget. I am definitely not an office person. I enjoy being out and about the whole day, feeling the athmosphere of the city, walking in the picturesque cobbled streets of downtown Budapest and the countryside, sharing my stories with others. I am a flea-market goer, keen on antiques and I also paint. I have a WSET qualification in Hungarian wines so I will happily discuss any wine related topics on my tours. To me every corner tells a story about the past and every street leads somewhere worth exploring. I would love to show you the true face of Budapest and this country and also give you an insight into the daily life here. What can you expect on my tours? I like to have fun and like it when those around me are also having a great time. I am very sociable and during my tours we will sometimes meet and chat with locals. We can also discuss authentic and contemporary issues, matters of daily life and anything else that you would like to know. **** Media appearances: I took part in filming for the BBC 'The One Show' - we filmed an insert for the show in Budapest, I was the guide of the film crew and also appeared on screen Cooperation on the American Airlines On Flight Magazine - Budapest edition I was also the lucky guide of Matt Long, publisher of Landlopers, you can read his article here: https://landlopers.com/2015/01/11/touring-with-local **** ALL MY TOURS ARE FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE! I am very flexible about our itinerary so it is not a problem if you want to change the schedule. I am well aware that your time here is precious and I would like to make sure that your tour is full, interesting, engaging, fun, and informative. We can travel via public transport, walk or I can arrange a first class van or minibus. Just contact me and I can customize the tour to meet your needs. So my tour ideas are rather recommendations, feel free to ask for any specials. I very much look forward to hearing from you and making sure your time in Hungary is special and memorable. Join me to uncover Budapest’s charms beyond the Unesco spots! This private tour is perfect for those who have already seen the highlights and want to explore the city further. Budapest never fails to amaze travelers, it has so many stories to tell. As we wander around, not only will we discover the hooks and crannies of the the city, but you can also connect with its soul. We can stop by the busy Central Market Hall to taste delicious strudel, navigate through lively local parks with great architecture and hear lots of fascinating anecdotes, or immerse in the vibrant athmosphere and colourful street art of the Jewish district. I also have lots of memories and gossips to share with you! When we stand in front of the Parliament building admiring its beauty or contemplate about history at the famous Shoes Memorial, we will finally understand the following lines: „We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us"
We will start the day briefly discussing your interests and setting your personal itinerary for the day. There are many places to choose from: - the Jewish district with the Great Synagogue -2nd largest of the world! We can also visit a "ruin bar" with very special athmosphere! - Saint Stephens Cathedral - the Parliament area with Kossuth Square - The famous "Shoes by the Danube" Memorial, one of the most moving memorials of Europe - Liberty Square area, one of Budapest's hidden treasures. It's an area with great architecture and a lot of WWII, 1956 and communist history: Soviet Memorial, American Embassy building, WWII memorial, etc. . - a unique and unusual Cave Church inside Gellert Hill - the Great Market Hall, (or optionally the Lehel Market Hall) - Vajdahunyad Castle in the City Park area, Szechenyi Bath - The Citadel above the city, with amazing views and fascinating stories about freedom
