Dear Traveller, Welcome to my site and thanks for stopping by! My name is Melinda and I am a licensed tour guide for Hungary. I'm very lucky as my job is also my passion. . . I have been guiding for years, I have worked with reputable companies such as Viking, Tauck, Scenic, AValon, AMA Waterways, etc. However, my favourite tours are the ones with smaller groups and guiding individual travellers- there is more personal touch, plenty of time for chatting, so the trip can be a more memorable and unique experience. I am a keen traveller myself, too, I had the wonderful opportunity to live in Turkey and Italy for a while, great experience which I will never forget. I am definitely not an office person. I enjoy being out and about the whole day, feeling the athmosphere of the city, walking in the picturesque cobbled streets of downtown Budapest and the countryside, sharing my stories with others. I am a flea-market goer, keen on antiques and I also paint. I have a WSET qualification in Hungarian wines so I will happily discuss any wine related topics on my tours. To me every corner tells a story about the past and every street leads somewhere worth exploring. I would love to show you the true face of Budapest and this country and also give you an insight into the daily life here. What can you expect on my tours? I like to have fun and like it when those around me are also having a great time. I am very sociable and during my tours we will sometimes meet and chat with locals. We can also discuss authentic and contemporary issues, matters of daily life and anything else that you would like to know. **** Media appearances: I took part in filming for the BBC 'The One Show' - we filmed an insert for the show in Budapest, I was the guide of the film crew and also appeared on screen Cooperation on the American Airlines On Flight Magazine - Budapest edition I was also the lucky guide of Matt Long, publisher of Landlopers, you can read his article here: https://landlopers.com/2015/01/11/touring-with-local **** ALL MY TOURS ARE FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE! I am very flexible about our itinerary so it is not a problem if you want to change the schedule. I am well aware that your time here is precious and I would like to make sure that your tour is full, interesting, engaging, fun, and informative. We can travel via public transport, walk or I can arrange a first class van or minibus. Just contact me and I can customize the tour to meet your needs. So my tour ideas are rather recommendations, feel free to ask for any specials. I very much look forward to hearing from you and making sure your time in Hungary is special and memorable. Licensed guide in English - Hungarian Trade Licensing Office Dohany street Great Synagogue - certified and licenced guide License for the Esztergom Bazilika and Treasury History Teacher BA degree Grand Circle Program Director Training WSET basic level certificate in Hungarian wines I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, the only exception is the Hungarian Parliament and the Opera house where they have their own guides and organize their own tours

This tour is ideal for those who want to experience the city as the locals do and want to immerse in the unique athmosphere of both Buda and Pest. Strolling the charming streets of the majestic Buda side and the lively neighbourhoods of Pest, you will hear my intriguing stories about how the twin-cities became one and how each century shaped them to give Budapest its unmistakable character. As part of this tour, we’ll travel like true locals, using Budapest’s efficient public transport system. To navigate through Budapest we will hop on buses, take trams with breathtaking views or ride the iconic millenium line, the second subway of Europe. With insider tips on hidden gems, local traditions, and must-visit spots, this tour is your gateway to experiencing Budapest not just as a visitor, but as someone who truly belongs here—even if just for a day.
Beautiful and interesting tour of Budapest. Melinda is very knowledgeable and her love of history comes through in her stories. Highly recommend!
Melinda was outstanding. She was knowledgeable, professional and very attentive to our needs. She created a tour for us that was exactly what we wanted and was willing to be flexible as the day progressed. Melinda was engaging, responsive and a delight to spend our time in Budapest with.
Melinda was a great guide. She communicated about issues before the tour and was responsive to my requests. She presented us with a good balance of history and modern issues. It was a hot hot day and she was mindful of finding shady spots to rest. We saw so much on our short visit to Budapest. Melinda was recommended to me by my cousin. Will be very happy to pass along the recommendation.
Malinda was great. We booked the tour with her for our first day in Budapest. We covered lots of ground, got very comfy with easy public transit and had a great foundation for the rest of the week. Friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating. As she put it- a friend to introduce you to their wonderful city.
Very informative, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend.
Melinda made this more than a tour, she made it a trip back in time. Melinda and I wrote each other many times in the weeks leading up to the tour. She kept me updated on what would be happening and spent lots of time looking up information about my family. Melinda arranged for us to be able to tour the local museum and church, which would normally be closed. Melinda showed up right on time and we headed out to the country side. We had a driver, Martin, who is a great driver and a welcome addition to the tour. On the way to the village Melinda provided some history about Hungary in general and some history of the region we were traveling. Once we got there we were greeted by our local guides and treated to a wonderful time learning about life in the village in the old days. I booked this tour for my 50th and will remember it always. Melinda will make sure your experience is unforgettable
Based on your interests the tours can vary, but in general we will cover all the must-sees: - Andrassy Avenue, which is part of the Unesco World heritage, with the Opera House and the neo-renessaince palaces - Heroes Square and the surrounding city park with the famous Szechenyi Spa and a fairy-tale like castle - Saint Stephen's cathedral (outside) and its charming neighbourhood - Explore the historical Buda Castle district: visit Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion with magnificent views, which became emblematic of Budapest - Parliament area or the Central Market Hall note: the church visit depends on its opening hours for the day Don't hesitate to contact me before the tour, so I can fully customize it to your needs and interests! The actual itinerary might contain modifications based on your requests, walking ability, etc. .
