Overview of your Budapest tour

This is not just a slogan for me. Since I come from local Jewish family and grew up during Communism, I can give you much more than pure facts learnt in history books. My tour includes a walk in the old Jewish Quarter, interior visit the Dohany Street Synagogue (Europe's largest), the Jewish Museum, the Kazinczy Street Orthodox Sy and the Rumbach Street Sy, also see the Holocaust Memorial. Outside of the Jewish Quarter we will see the Glass House. It is a remarkable place that, on the one hand, served as a shelter and hiding place for about 3, 000 Jews saved by Carl Lutz, the Consul of Switzerland in late 1944 and, one the other hand, was also the center of the underground Zionist organization in Hungary. After this - "Shoes Memorial" on the River Bank. This is the memorial place from where the Nazi Hungarians shot the Jews into the Danube River in winter of 1944-45. We can walk to the Shoes Memorial or I just talk about it .

Andrea was a great guide. She really knew so much about the history of the Jews in Budapest and was very good at conveying that information. It was amazing to hear about all the synagogues that we visited and their history and unique architecture. None of us were aware of Hungary's part in the Holocaust and were quite amazed at what we heard. All in all, it was a great tour and Andrea was an excellent guide.

We had such a memorable and impactful Jewish history tour in Budapest with Andrea. Her knowledge of Jewish history, the synagogues, and the Jewish areas was exceptional, but what made the experience truly special was how she intertwined the broader history with her own family’s personal story. Andrea was engaging, thoughtful, and passionate, providing fascinating insights into the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and challenges of the Jewish community in Hungary. The visits to the synagogues and other important sites were both educational and deeply moving. If you’re interested in Jewish history, Budapest’s Jewish heritage, or simply want a guide who is knowledgeable, personable, and inspiring, we highly recommend Andrea. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Budapest.

Excellent tour. Andrea is extremely knowledgeable and judged the content and pace well. We had the day before visited a wide range of city centre sights and Andrea adapted and compensated for that so that we didn't have unnecessary overlap or duplication. Highly recommended.

I recommend Andrea for a 5 star local experience. My wife and I enjoyed our tour, which although was sobering, gave us a greater respect and understanding of the struggles of the Hungarian Jewish Community. Particularly during the occupation in 1944. Thank you Andrea

What a special and moving tour! Andrea’s knowledge of the history of Hungary’s Jewish people was fascinating from beginning to end. Our hearts broke as we sat on the wall by the shoe museum in looking at the replicas of shoes from the era and again later at the Glass House. We absolutely recommend this most important tour!
