What Fifth Ave. is to New York City, Michigan Ave, aka "The Magnificent Mile" is to Chicago. Being retired, I check my email and texts only about every two days. Believe me, phone is best: 312-550-3807. Yes, texting is possible, but other than the most utterly simple question, such as you wanting to postpone the start by five minutes, I am likely to answer with, "It'll be way easier if we just get on the phone. Plus, we can customize your tour by chatting!" Believe me, customizing the tour will make for a MUCH more rewarding experience for you. If you like the hustle-bustle of the big city, fabulous architecture, glam shoppers and shopping from all important European and American retailers, you will get it. Some buildings will take you back into other eras, and are of very major architectural beauty and significance. There also are notable museums, parkland, and libraries.
1. The legendary Drake Hotel. It is a walk back in time to the breathless, elegant decor of the Edwardian period of The Titanic ship, i. e, 1910. 2. The 100 story John Hancock building. This trendsetter supertower initiated an architectural and revolution 50 years ago. 3. The Water Tower: You will feel as if you are in Europe right back in the year 1400, as it uses exactly that beautiful architectural style. 4. Chicago Public Library: Go back to the year 1890, and take in the beauty and majesty of this breathtaking, Tiffany-designed monument to books, knowledge, and learning. All marble. 5. The Art Institue of Chicago: Go back to 1893, to the great era of museum building in America. It reminds one of the great museums of New York and of the Smithsonian in Washington, D. C. 6. Millenium Park: 150 years old, but filled with great amounts of enormous, contemporary, world-class sculpture. 7. A series of Art Deco skyscrapers from the roaring twenties, when Chicago was just booming.
