Full Day Classic Chicago Tour

Johanna was AMAZING! Just like every other guide we have found through Tours By Locals, she was on time, stayed in contact as she got closer, was a font of knowledge about Chicago, and took us to so many places that our heads were spinning. We loved every minute of our tour. She knows so much; we can’t figure out how she remembers it all. If we had to do it again, we would definitely tour with Johanna again.

I took a solo Polish heritage tour in Chicago with Joanna, and it was a wonderful experience. I have a disability, so I messaged Joanna early on—even before booking—to let her know about my limitations, what I could and couldn't do, and what I needed help with. She was incredibly understanding, patient, and totally willing to adjust the pace for me. It made me feel really comfortable the whole day. Joanna is a great guide and a fantastic driver. Her parallel parking to fit into tight city spaces is impeccable! I loved learning about the historic "sunken" houses. It was amazing to hear how they lifted those heavy houses up with jack screws back then, and how homeowners had the choice to either raise them to the new street level or leave them to become basement houses. Seeing the ones left below the ground today was incredible. Another highlight was visiting St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. It was so peaceful inside, and Joanna told me the story of how the community saved it from being torn down for the expressway. Afterward, she recommended I try the deep dish at Pequod's Pizza, which was excellent. Joanna’s deep knowledge and warmth made this a truly special tour. I highly recommend booking with her!

Johanna is such a great host! She completely customized our full day tour and showed us so many unique parts of Chicago. Highly recommend this tour!

Johanna is outstanding! She is a delightful guide and so knowledgeable about the city and its hidden gems. She made our time in the city stress free and fun, we hope to see her again on another trip to Chicago.

She was very flexible and easy to work with. We are a motor coach of retirees and needed someone to hop on our coach. She was willing to meet us in Joliet and take us through Chicago and get us to our dinner in time. What a treat it was to meet Johanna and have her show us around. She interacted so nicely with us old folks. What a delight. Thank you.

Johanna was fantastic! She understood us and what we would value. We felt as if we were spending the day with a wonderful long time friend. She is knowlegeble, intuitive and took great care of us. When we return to Chicago we will look to work with her again for a more specific tour. Chicago has so much to offer as does Johanna.
