Hi, my name is Johanna. I was born in the U. S. to Polish immigrants, and they've been flying me back and forth to the motherland since I was barely out of diapers. That ingrained a strong wanderlust in me that has never gone away. I've globe-trotted all around and met countless amazing people during my travels. Allow me to help make your memories as awesome as mine have been. I've lived in Chicago for 28 years, so it's safe to say that I am a Chicago native, and I know a thing or two about this city I call home. My interests are many, as are my jobs. I teach Polish folk dancing, cater pierogi, work at a brewery, participate in a yearly lowrider show and of course, work as a tour guide. . . the list goes on. I also love music, dance and enjoy a great meal (who doesn't). That being said, I can customize a tour that'll satisfy and entertain any type of individual. Let's go to breweries, dance to swing music, visit unique architectural sites, learn a little about Chicago history, and try out some amazing local restaurants as well as local fast food joints (Chicago-style hot dog or deep dish pizza, anyone?). Now, let's have some fun and explore! I have worked as a private guide in Chicago for five years. Although I mostly work with smaller groups, I can accommodate larger groups. If you are interested in booking for a larger group, I can meet you and guide you in your vehicle.

Chicago offers an interesting and complex history. Let's check out some of the highlights dating back to the mid 19th century through modern times. We'll start with some of my favorite places along Michigan Ave. Our tour will ultimately take us to the southside of Chicago: home to the 1893 Columbian Exposition Cocktails in a secret Athletic Club-turned-hipster-bar are a definite must. There we'll get an awesome view of the lakefront that'll make your friends jealous. We'll also check out buildings along the Chicago River and learn about their historical significance. Have you ever ridden on a manually operated 19th century elevator? That'll also be on the agenda. This tour will combine transportation via car, uber/public transport, and walking. All of my tours are fully customizable.
We will meet at your hotel and go over the day's itinerary over a cup of coffee. After we are fully caffeinated, we'll walk over to modern-day Millenium Park (Cloud Gate aka "The Bean, " Crown Fountain, Lurie Garden) and past Chicago's classic Art Institute. Next, we'll pop into a secret Athletic Club-turned-hipster-bar for a classic cocktail with an amazing view of the lake. This is a great place to take pictures and make your friends jealous. After indulging in some handcrafted libations, we'll roll over to the Chicago River and check out the buildings that shaped the city. I will share some insight while we enjoy the public river walk. Lastly we'll drive through the historic Hyde Park neighborhood and enjoy the place that was once home to the 1893 Columbian Exposition. All my tours can be customized, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions

This tour will include a combination of light walking and private transport via my vehicle (Mitsubishi Galant 2010).
