Greetings from Chicago! My name is Colm and I'd love to show you around my favorite city! I am a certified tour guide and enjoy meeting new people who wish to share my passion for Chicago's architecture and history. I have lived in Chicago for most of my adult life although I originally hale from Dublin, Ireland, so I know how to tell a story! I empathize with travelers because I'm a keen traveler myself and always hire a guide in a foreign place to discover its secrets, learn its history, and hopefully be entertained! In turn, I pride myself on revealing the real Chicago, avoiding some of the crowded tourist traps and offering a way to get to know the city's famous places more intimately. Tour Downtown Chicago's underground Pedway system and visit many of its attractions without going outside. What better way to avoid Chicago's notorious winter weather than an indoor tour that covers more than 20 blocks of the City's best attractions. We will start out at the James R. Thompson Center a postmodern civic marvel designed by Helmut Jahn. Then, we will head underground visiting City Hall, The Picasso, Block 37, Macy's and many other attractions on our walk. Along the way, we will venture out of the tunnels and view some of the wonderful skyscrapers connected to the Pedway system. We will stop for coffee and pastries at the half way point and discuss the places we have visited. If you'd like to make this lunch instead let me know. This tour is only available on weekdays and is not available on public holidays.
Colm was a fantastic guide. He communicated well leading up to the tour. He was flexible as he met me at my hotel and the tour was great. We even went off the "tour plan" and saw some really cool stuff like inside the Chicago Athletic Club - which as super cool. Thanks for a great tour :)

Fascinating mix of tunnels under the streets of Chicago and art and architecture above the streets. Colm is an accomplished guide and a pleasure to be with.
With only 3 days in Chicago, we wanted to see as much as we could, but did not want to do a standard bus tour. We chose Colm as our guide based on him being a local, but having lived in other cities and countries, which enables him to also see Chicago as an outsider. Our tour took us into places we would never have found. Coupled with his depth and breadth of knowledge and his ability to share the information in an interesting way. We covered a lot of ground and learnt so much. Highly recommended.
Colm is very knowledgeable about Chicago history and architecture. We learned and saw much more in and around the Pedway (underground) than we expected. Very enjoyable, highly recommend!
Start time is flexible so happy to tailor this to travelers needs. - We will meet at the James R. Thompson Center at 100 W. Randolph St. - After a brief introduction and overview of the Pedway system we will set out walking underground. - Along the way, we will come up from underground and discuss a number of buildings and attractions along the way. - At the half way point we can stop for coffee and pastries (lunch if needed) to break up the walk. - Total tour time is approx 2. 5 hours and we will end up at Michigan Ave. bridge.
