I just love giving these tours. My customers, to my great delight, have mentioned that my enthusiasm for my city was something that they really enjoyed. I have studied up most deeply on our architecture, on our history, and especially on the historical setting and context of specific buildings, landmarks, and monuments. I will not simply be saying, "Oh, here is another major building/monument/sculpture. " That is not a real tour. I give R-E-A-L tours. You will leave knowing a lot more about why Chicago became the major city that it is, and not a minor city. Also, I will be referring you on to other nearby great places you can view on your own, give you detailed information on each gigantic museum, as well as guide you to the best restaurants by cuisine type. You name it, we have it: Jamaican, Peruvian, Filipino, Brazilian, Scottish, African, Serbian, everything. just staggering. You will be able to walk to all the great destinations I point out after our tour, or on following days, of course for free. Tons of free advice and input from me! Above all else, I want you to love this place. You hardly need me to take in all the mind-bending sights here, but you'll sure know where else to go. I am a died in the wool Chicagoan, and above all else just love assisting visitors to get to know our great City. I am retired now and earning money out of this is hardly my top priority. I'm here to help in any way that I can. WELCOME TO CHICAGO! Yours, Joe Former taxi and Uber driver. I know this city like the back of my hand. None at all.

Being retired, I check my email and texts only about every two days. Believe me, phone is best: 312-550-3807. Yes, texting is possible, but other than the most utterly simple question, such as you wanting to postpone the start by five minutes, I am likely to answer with, "It'll be way easier if we just get on the phone. Plus, we can customize your tour by chatting!" Believe me, customizing the tour will make for a MUCH more rewarding experience for you, your time, and your investment. On this tour, you will see numerous ultra modern, beautiful, soaring office buildings, but also, an entire century of history: the great railroad era of business tycoons, the roaring twenties/gangster era, etc., etc. Gorgeous libraries, courthouses, monuments, you name it.
1. 1910: City Hall/County building: Chicago seeing itself as the reincarnation of Ancient Rome. 2. The world-famous, two story tall, ultra modern sculpture designed by Picasso himself. 3. Panorama of Chicago as the banking center of the Midwest, as seen in grand, consciously proud banks built 1880-1910. 4. Four, excellent, towering examples of the ultra sleek "modern" architecture of the late 1920's, known as Art Deco. Chicago, along with New York creating its own Empire State building, created this style as much as any city in the world. The marble interiors are especially noteworthy. 5. Union Station. Walk back into the world of 1910, when travel by railroad was king, prior to the advent of the automobile. Soaring lobby and dome, travelers from all parts, and in your imagination at least, the uniformed conductor's cry, "All Aboard!" You are in a movie from yesteryear. 6. Two branches of the Chicago River itself. It bisects and pervades this tour, giving great, unobstructed views of the buildings. 7.

This is a walking tour. Walk to our meeting point on foot from a downtown hotel. If you are not in a Michigan Ave, River North or Downtown hotel, there are endless subway and bus lines that will bring you there. Unless you are far away, Uber rides will be quite economical. I can easily change the duration to 2 hours or 4 hours, or anything else. This is entirely your choice!
