Hi my name is Michael and I would like to welcome you to Scotland! I was born and raised in Glasgow and have worked in the city for over 35 years in a wide ranging career including banking and education. Like you I love to travel and I have been lucky to visit the USA, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Poland, Bulgaria, the Caribbean and the United Arab Emirates. In each of these locations I make a point of exploring the culture, history and architecture of whichever city I find myself in, and I would love the opportunity to do the same for you here in Glasgow, Edinburgh or St Andrews. I have led numerous educational tours with groups ranging in size from to 4 to 40 in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, and Inverness. Further afield I have guided students across the battlefields of France and Belgium and also on thought-provoking and emotional tours of Auschwitz in Poland. Just recently I was fortunate to be one of the 21 students who qualified as a prestigious Blue Badge Guide with the Scottish Tourist Guide Association which allows me to guide in an official capacity anywhere in the country and it would be a privilege and a pleasure to share my knowledge and expertise with you through ToursByLocals in Scotland. Let me show you a side of Glasgow you will not get on any other tour! I will share my passion for storytelling and give you a unique experience to leave you with wonderful memories of Glasgow. I was born and raised in Glasgow and have worked in the city for over 35 years so I know it like the back of my hand. During our 2 hour stroll through the city centre, we will skip past the city's museums and historical buildings, sneak down lanes and alleys you've never seen, to discover some of the city's stunning pieces of street art. And whisper it. . . . . . we will take a cheeky look at a hidden Banksy. . . . . . or will we?!
Your Glasgow tour itinerary
- We will meet in the centre of Glasgow at George Square or at a location more convenient to you. - We will meander along a circular route of the city centre, taking in work by world-renowned artists and hidden gems created by some of the city's artistic street heroes. These murals are helping to rejuvenate streets and revitalise buildings and vacant sites whilst having a major impact on our city centre by creating splashes of colour for locals and visitors alike to enjoy. - We will discover a number of works of art including. . . * Murals by Smug * Rebel Bear's 'Falling in Love' * Billy Connolly murals * A number of murals by Rogueone * Glasgow's 'illegal' wall We will finish back in George Square however there is the option to jump on the subway for a 7 minute journey to view some art in the West End and I can leave you in the quaint bars and restaurants of Ashton Lane or we can return via the subway to the city centre. I am more than happy to customize the itinerary to suit your priorities or needs.
