When I show someone around Edinburgh, St Andrews or anywhere in Scotland I want them to feel like they are seeing it with a friend rather than a guide, as a result all my tours are fun and relaxed. There will be stories, a few laughs and as much history as interests you. Everyone wants different things so all my tours are tailored to suit your needs. As well as learning lots about Scotland past and present in an easy to understand manner, we may well end up going for tea, a whisky tasting and most importantly, getting to see spots other travelers don't get to see. Travel is something extremely important to me, it lured me away from a career in science in the UK and led me to working as a photographer for Lonely Planet, various guidebooks, magazines and newspapers. Being based in Tokyo for 11 years where I was lucky enough to travel extensively and see the world, but on visits back to Scotland with friends I found I loved nothing better than showing my own native land through the eyes of a local and this led me to moving back to Scotland and becoming a tour guide. Although I've loved all the jobs I have done previously, nothing gives me greater pleasure than what I do now as I'm lucky enough to have a job that allows me to wake up smiling every day as at the end of each day I've been lucky enough to introduce the best parts of my own country to people from all over the world. If you choose me, I'll do whatever I can to make sure you finish your day with an equally big smile and Scotland will always have a very fond place in your memories.

Overview of your Edinburgh tour

On this day trip from Edinburgh we will travel to Glencoe to see some of the most spectacular sights Scotland has to offer. We can stop to see Stirling Castle, continue north to Glencoe stopping at some beautiful spots on the way before taking as much time as possible out of the vehicle in Glencoe to see nature, hopefully some wildlife and warm up in a local cosy pub before returning to Edinburgh. The amazing views you will see makes the time well worth it and packs a lot of great stuff into this day trip so it's ideal for those here for a short time. However, if you are coming off a cruise ship with a short shore time this day could be just too long.

Will took us on a day tour through Glen Coe from Edinburgh. The stories throughout the drive made it go by quickly, the stops were amazing and we were able to bypass the very busy tourist spots and return to them later when they weren't busy. Would I recommend Will for your next tour? - in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed the tour with William. He is punctual, polite and informative. Glencoe was the highlight of our tour. William did not disappoint us. He also brought us for lunch at The Laroch Restaurant and Bar. Food and the service were excellent.

I just have one thing to say: HIRE WILL NOW!!! Here's why: -He will arrive promptly at your hotel with a sparkling clean car and friendly "good morning." -He will happily take you to your desired destinations or offer great suggestions if you are unsure of where to visit. -He has great "lesser traveled" spots to stop at for amazing photo ops. -He will make you laugh. (If you have any sense of humor…that's on you.) -He is a walking encyclopedia of Scottish history and lore and can weave an amazing story

Our experience with our guide was fantastic. We had set up the tour but when we met he was knowledgeable with what was available and how best to use our time given what we wanted to see and the physical abilities of our group. He was friendly, patient and had a great sense of humor. He had a unique ability to give us history and background information in a way that was interesting and not a lecture. I am considering going back to Edinburgh and would definitely use him as a guide rather than a tour group.

Your Edinburgh tour itinerary

- Leaving Edinburgh around 8am-9am (an earlier start is recommended to avoid the crowds) we will drive to Glencoe which is approx 3 hours away. - We will stop briefly at Stirling Castle before stopping in a local village for refreshments or breaks before continuing to Glencoe. - Stop at Loch Tulla viewpoint. - In Glencoe will take in some of the stunning nature, get out of the car as much as possible, allow you to feel the fresh wind in your face and hopefully allow you to see some of the local wildlife, stags, deer and if you are very lucky, some birds of prey. This area is popular with tourists, but we can linger longer at the places you like as well we getting to some places tour buses cannot reach as it's a personal tour to suit your needs. Feel free to contact me if you would like to customize this tour.
