Since moving to Edinburgh in 1988 from Germany, via South Africa and Switzerland, I am continually struck by the awesome beauty of this European Capital, by the visible history, the living culture and the juxtaposition of nature and city. I have been guiding individuals and groups through Edinburgh, Scotland and the rest of the UK since 1994 and just love imparting knowledge, local anecdotes, introducing guests to the history and the daily life of this mesmerising country and city. Come and join me on one of my walks and prepare to be enchanted, entertained and educated. If you have any particular requirements or interests, I would love to hear from you and could then tailor a tour exactly to your requirements/interests. As a mother of six, I am particularly suited to adapt the program towards children/teenagers and have experience in bringing history alive for them. I very much look forward to meeting you and showing you around! 29yrs of experience of guiding individuals and groups for shorter or longer holidays, including cruise passengers. References available on request. Clean UK driver's licence. Aquila accredited Guide.

Edinburgh has long been a hotspot for writers and poets, together with me you will discover interesting aspects of this first Unesco City of Literature, taking in the Writer's Museum in the Old Town, visit an exhibition in the National Library of Scotland (one of the only two reference libraries in the UK) and end the day with a private tour of the former residence of celebrated writer Robert Louis Stevenson where we are greeted with tea/coffee and get to explore this fascinating Georgian house in the New Town. If there are no exhibitions at the National Library this point in the itinerary can be substituted for a climb up Sir Walter Scott's Monument! I would love to share my passion for literature with you, and hear about your favorite writers and how one can enhance a travel experience with reading!
The itinerary will be the following: - Visit to the Writers' Museum. - Visit to the National Museum (alternative is the Sir Walter Scott Monument). - Private Visit to the childhood home of Robert Louis Stevenson with refreshments. Please be prepared for less than perfect weather! For customizing this tour, please inquire for a quote.
