When I show someone around Edinburgh, St Andrews or anywhere in Scotland I want them to feel like they are seeing it with a friend rather than a guide, as a result all my tours are fun and relaxed. There will be stories, a few laughs and as much history as interests you. Everyone wants different things so all my tours are tailored to suit your needs. As well as learning lots about Scotland past and present in an easy to understand manner, we may well end up going for tea, a whisky tasting and most importantly, getting to see spots other travelers don't get to see. Travel is something extremely important to me, it lured me away from a career in science in the UK and led me to working as a photographer for Lonely Planet, various guidebooks, magazines and newspapers. Being based in Tokyo for 11 years where I was lucky enough to travel extensively and see the world, but on visits back to Scotland with friends I found I loved nothing better than showing my own native land through the eyes of a local and this led me to moving back to Scotland and becoming a tour guide. Although I've loved all the jobs I have done previously, nothing gives me greater pleasure than what I do now as I'm lucky enough to have a job that allows me to wake up smiling every day as at the end of each day I've been lucky enough to introduce the best parts of my own country to people from all over the world. If you choose me, I'll do whatever I can to make sure you finish your day with an equally big smile and Scotland will always have a very fond place in your memories.

I will personalise this tour to make sure you get to the places you want. You will see some really beautiful local spots and experience Edinburgh like a local. I'll pick you up, we'll see the Old Town and New Town, stopping to get out and walk at some spots best seen on foot. More importantly, we go way beyond the well known parts of Edinburgh and we can visit places such as Rosslyn Chapel and South Queensferry where we can see the Iconic Forth Bridges. If you want to do something else such as visit Leith and the Royal Yacht Britannia we can do that no problem, this tour is to suit you. Also, I love to make sure people get to eat and drink in the places I love away from the touristy spots, so whatever you want to try I can make it happen.
I will pick you up at your hotel or boat at around 9am (or earlier if you wish), depending on where I pick you up from will determine the route we take but generally start off with seeing some the tourist highlights of the Old Town and New town followed by getting you well away from the usual tourist routes to see some stunning hidden gems: - Edinburgh Old Town highlights (castle views, narrow closes of the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace views) - Edinburgh New Town highlights (Georgian architecture and grand buildings) - Stockbridge (most desirable place to live in the UK) - Dean Village (Old milling village, now stunning residential area with village feel despite being in heart of Edinburgh) - Rosslyn Chapel. Made famous by "The da Vinci Code" this chapel is steeped in mystery, Knights Templar symbology and is a highlight for all those who visit. - South Queensferry (beautiful village below Forth Rail and Road bridges) These are all just suggestions, I can make the itinerary suit your needs.
