Picking you up from your hotel, cruise ship or airport is a great way to let you see as much as possible in the time you are here. As an active member of two ancient Scottish Clans - the Napiers and the Hannays - I would love to help you find your own Scottish roots, look for your Scottish ancestors and find where they lived. Outlander, Robert the Bruce, Harry Potter, Skyfall, Monty Python & the Holy Grail - all filmed in Scotland and I can take you to visit the locations and tell you the stories behind the scenes. If you have a particular Scottish theme then just let me know and I will design a tour to delight you. Literature, Palaces, Nature, Landscape - these are just some of the tours I have provided in 2018. And you will find places well off the normal tourist trail - secret, mysterious Scotland! We Scots do love our food - for example salmon, beef, raspberries and whisky, and of course the wonderful haggis! Whatever your taste and style I can find suitable cafes, restaurants and pubs to get those taste buds zinging. My career in housing development led me to be the Business Development Director at Dunedin Canmore Housing Association, and I have been responsible for building over 5000 new affordable homes, including the first award winning car free development in the United Kingdom. I am former Chair of Bield Housing and Care, and sat on the Scottish Tribunals Service for private rented housing. I currently run my own residential development consultancy providing project management and training services to housing associations and local authorities.

A full day tour of East Lothian, the county just to the east of Edinburgh, with a driver guide who knows the area intimately. For over 200 years my husband's ancestors were farmers and miners in this beautiful area. You can still see the old mining areas, and the picturesque farmland - the most fertile in the UK. We will pass battle sites, castles, farms, mills and planned villages. Our favourite beach is near Tantallan Castle with fabulous walks along the shore with views to the Bass Rock. - largest gannet colony in the world. North Berwick is our next stop with its pretty harbour and famous Seabird Centre. There is also the option to take a boat trip out to the Bass Rock (subject to weather and season). Lunch in the harbour or one of the many cafes in the little town. North Berwick is also famous for its witches in the 16thC! Driving along the coast we will see castles, the Open Golf course at Muirfield and fishing and mining villages, before returning to Edinburgh. Option to include a Distillery
Excellent tour! Susan helped us before we arrived in Scotland, giving us information on boat tours and tickets for birding in the area. Susan also adjusted the tour to fit us as we did not want to see the usual sites. Very enjoyable guide!
We were with Susan for 3 days. She was very informative, stayed with our interests and showed us incredible amount of the area just outside of Edinburgh—The Trossachs, Stirling Castle, Rosslyn Chapel, The Borders area with Abbotsford, Scott's view, Melrose Abbey, beautiful drive, Dunbar (John Muir birthplace and a beautiful walk on John Muir Way, North Berwick, Seabird Center. We had an entirely enjoyable. Susan is a great guide.
Well planned 1:1 tour of neighborhoods and countrysides outside Edinburgh. Susan was both knowledgeable of the history of the area and contemporary gems that linked the areas to industrial development. I unreservedly recommend her.
