Hi, I’m Neil, a private tour guide based in Edinburgh. I was born and brought up in the Edinburgh area and have spent most of my life exploring Scotland. After a 30-year career in the Police Service, I moved into tourism, and 15 years later I’m still doing something I really enjoy – showing visitors around my country. I’ve worked as a tour guide at Glenkinchie Distillery and I’m an accredited Whisky Ambassador, so whisky is a particular interest of mine. I also enjoy Scotland’s history, golf, scenery and, perhaps most of all, sharing the stories behind the places we visit. I don’t believe in rushing people from one attraction to the next. I like to find out what interests you and build the day around that. Whether it’s your first visit to Scotland or you’ve been here before, I can suggest places and routes that suit you. My tours can cover Edinburgh and the surrounding area, or take us much further afield into the Highlands, the islands and other parts of Scotland. I travel in a luxury Mercedes V-Class, which can accommodate up to seven guests, or a BMW 7 Series for smaller groups. I’m also a Police-qualified advanced driver, so you can relax and enjoy the journey while I take care of the driving. I’ve been lucky enough to show people from all over the world around Scotland over the years, and I still enjoy seeing their reaction when they discover somewhere new. If you’re planning a trip to Scotland and would like a private tour tailored around what you want to see and do, get in touch and we can have a chat about your plans.

We would give Neil 6 stars! We thank him for the beautiful day spent in a beautiful city. Neil co-ordinated our tickets to HolyRood and Rosslyn Chapel. Two sights not to miss in Edinburgh. Whiskey tasting at Glenkinchie was very special as well. Sean poured our whiskey flights and had in depth knowledge of the distilling process as well as tasting notes. We would recommend Neil to anyone visiting UK. Bravo Neil!!
Our tour with Neil was great! Despite the rainy day, he provided us with an excellent service! He was very friendly, attentive, punctual, and explained the sights we visited in detail. The van was new and very comfortable! He pick us at the Newhaven Cruise Port. We visited Rosslyn Chapel, the Glenkinchie distillery, the golf courses, Carlton Hill, with views of Edinburgh Castle and the Edinburgh city center, and at the end we took a stroll along the Royal Mile, with time for shopping. We highly recommend the tour for families! Excellent tour!
Neil does a great job on this tour. He is patient, personable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.
A great day with Neil starting out seeing some of the major landmarks around the capital and then to the highlight of the day, Rosslyn Chapel. A truly remarkable place and one not to be missed. The rest of the day was spent touring the coastal towns with so many wonderful stops along the way on another beautiful day. Neil is an amazing source of information and history of Scotland and he made our first day in Scotland a fabulous one. We highly recommend Neil and this tour
Neil was a fantastic guide. He planned this to cover exactly what we wanted to see and was flexible to changes as the day progressed. We never felt rushed and he is very knowledgeable about the area and answered all our questions. Would not hesitate to book Neil again.

Driving through the Georgian New Town, we pass Princes Street and the Scott Monument. We then travel south to Rosslyn Chapel, known for its intricate carvings and mysterious history. In the afternoon, we head to the East Lothian coast, visiting charming fishing villages and enjoying scenic sea views, with time for a relaxed stop. Throughout the day, there’s flexibility for photos, exploring and lunch, all at a comfortable pace in a luxury Mercedes V-Class or BMW 7 Series.
