I was born and raised in Northern Ireland, taught as an English teacher for over thirty years, and have a passion for visiting the places writers lived in, where they worked, and the settings they used in their stories. After arriving in London in 1995, I have grown to love its great churches, theatres - and pubs! My wife and I have raised our family in London, and have travelled widely around the U.K., Europe, and the eastern seaboard of the U.S.. I follow cricket, and have supported Chelsea Football Club since they won the FA Cup in 1970! Now qualified as a Blue Badge Guide, I specialise in literary tours, including giving walking tours in Bloomsbury and following in Shakespeare's footsteps. I also enjoy taking visitors to see such places as Stonehenge and Salisbury, and walking with them around the wonderful city of Bath, with its Roman Baths and elegant Georgian buildings. I enjoy tailoring tours to respond to visitors' special requests, following their interests and enthusiasms, and love opportunities to explore in detail and depth, and to head off the beaten path. I like to engage in conversation and enjoy meeting people from other countries, and finding out about their perspectives on the places we visit together.

We start our journey with a guided tour around the Roman Baths and museum, including the magnificent face from the front of the temple, the lead curse tablets, and the marvellous bronze head of the goddess Sulis Minerva - before seeing the Great Bath itself. Afterwards, we'll wander through the Pump Room to introduce ourselves to Georgian Bath's elegance, remembering how Bath blossomed when fashionable people came to "take the waters" and enjoy some entertainment. We'll make our way past the modern-day Thermae Bath Spa, and then the Theatre Royal. Two architectural masterpieces from this golden era await: the Royal Crescent and the Circus. From there we'll make our way down past Milsom Street's shops, the Royal Mineral Water Hospital, and finally to the Grand Parade, with its views over the River Avon, Pulteney Bridge and the delightful Parade Gardens. We'll meet in Abbey Churchyard, in front of the Pump Room restaurant entrance doors. If you prefer to meet at the train station, that would work as well. Please let me know if you would like this.
