The World Heritage City of BATH, the historic port and city of BRISTOL, ancient STONEHENGE, the picturesque COTSWOLDS, SALISBURY CATHEDRAL and the MAGNA CARTA, WELLS and GLASTONBURY; just some of the local highlights I can share with you. I am a 'top of the range' UK 'Blue Badge Guide', the highest professional qualification for tour guiding in the UK (see Credentials). You have the comfort and security of knowing that I am fully trained, licensed, insured and accredited with all the relevant tourism authorities, with many years experience. I am a genuine 'local'. I grew up and went to school here and I served locally as a police officer for 30 years. I know the region inside out, including many of the hidden corners, local stories and unexpected gems rarely mentioned in guide books. My own travelling has included much of Europe, including some of Eastern Europe 'post-communism', 21 states of the USA, Canada (Vancouver to Nova Scotia), Australia, New Zealand, India, Morocco, Hong Kong, Singapore and Mauritius so I know what it is like to be a visitor in unfamiliar territory! I have published a number of suggested tours which may be booked as read. Alternatively you are welcome to treat them as templates to amend to suit your wishes. Some can be adapted as SHORE EXCURSIONS from cruise ships docked in Bristol. Please note that prices quoted assume pick-up and drop-off is local to Bath/Bristol, and be aware that the cost is for the tour, NOT per person.. All tours are private, exclusive and personal. Tapping into my local knowledge and contacts allows us to cut corners so that you can concentrate on the "must-do's" instead of wasting precious time plodding through brochures, schedules, and websites. You can opt for one of my listed tours, or I welcome the opportunity to work with you to create a customised tour to match your interests, schedule or pace. I am always open to the possibility of doing something special or 'out of the ordinary' - we can even start from scratch. If transport is necessary I hire a vehicle and driver so that I can concentrate on ensuring you are able to enjoy the tour, without worrying about traffic hold-ups and parking. Feel free to 'message' me - without obligation - for a memorable, stress-free and enjoyable tour. I look forward to hearing from you. *UK "Blue Badge" registered tourist guide. *Member of the Institute of Tourist Guiding *Member of the British Guild of Tourist Guides *Completed Disability Awareness Training Course by VisitEngland/Bath Tourism Plus. Certificate awarded; 'Customer Service to Disabled Visitors'. *Blue Badge Guide endorsement - Wells Cathedral *Certificate from Disclosure & Barring Service - no criminal convictions I am based Bath/Bristol. Where transport is required I can arrange for private executive class transport appropriate for the number of passengers, and driver.

"Oh who can ever be tired of Bath" ('Northanger Abbey', Jane Austen.) Walking around Bath is not an exact science but this tour is not the 2 hour 'Quickstep' around the city offered elsewhere. My Best of Bath tour allows 3-4 hours, giving us time for a leisurely guided stroll around all the principal sights, with time to take it all in, take some photos, perhaps time for an ice cream or a short coffee and comfort stop. Time to learn about why Bath became an important spa resort for the Romans, its subsequent decline and resurgence in the 18th century to become the architectural gem that is now a UNESCO World Heritage City. My time walking the streets as a 'Bobby' has also given me a store of anecdotes to tell! I am happy to customise your tour to visit the Roman Baths or see film/tv locations (eg Bridgerton) but please message me before booking.

Mike was a great guide. Knowledgeable, fun and filled with great personal observations and insights into this amazing City.
We had a great afternoon with Mike! We asked him to share his must sees and his favorites in Bath, and we were not disappointed. He covered the important history and heritage of this great city, along with fascinating commentary about live in Bath today. He kept both parents and young adults entertained the entire way - everyone enjoyed our time with Mike. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our walk around Bath with Mike. An added bonus was hearing Mike's stories about his time as a policeman in Bath, which certainly added some color and context to our tour.
Michael gave us a thorough review of what we wanted to see, which was primarily the Roman Baths, but we also got a good understanding of the history of Bath itself. Since he had formally been a Constable we also enjoyed the local color stories he told us about the early days in that profession. He was a good mix of knowledgeable and congenial.
Mike delivered an exceptional morning tour of Bath that truly exceeded expectations. Starting at 9am, we were able to beat the crowds from the tour buses and enjoy a peaceful experience exploring the city's historical landmarks and fascinating artifacts. As the morning unfolded, Mike guided us through a variety of unique and lesser-known spots in central Bath, making the walk both intriguing and refreshing. His storytelling was a standout—each location was brought to life with rich historical insights and entertaining anecdotes that connected both past and present. Thoughtful breaks for coffee and light snacks added a lovely, relaxed pace to the tour. Having taken over 20 tours with ToursByLocals, I can confidently say this was one of the very best. Highly recommended!

Bath is best experienced on foot and I recommend up to 4 hrs in order to fully enjoy the experience of strolling around this wonderful city. If mobility is a problem (please advise) taxis can reduce the amount of walking and are widely available.
