I was born and grew up in Bath so if you would like a tour with a local, look no further - I am what locals call a genuine Bathonian! Travelling has been in my blood since I was young. I have been fortunate to visit many places in the world from Europe to Latin America, South East Asia, USA and Australia. However as Dorothy in the film "The Wizard of Oz" says: "There is no place like home" and so after working for a global tour operator I have settled back in Bath where I am surrounded by a beautiful city, lovely countryside and my family. Today I take great delight in showing visitors around my home city and the local area. If you are visiting Bath for the first time check out my Bath City Walking Tour which will give you a great introduction to the city. For those looking for a unique experience I have also created a tour where you can combine this with the opportunity to fly a hawk in the countryside which is an incredible experience. As I have a vehicle I also take visitors on tours of Stonehenge which is only 50 minutes from Bath as well as to other fascinating places such as Avebury, Wells, Cheddar and some of the charming villages around the city. The vehicle also allows me to do sightseeing transfers to/from Bath - from airports, ports and London. I can also customise tours and in the past I have taken visitors to Stately homes in the area e. g. Longleat House, Stourhead and to places like Salisbury Cathedral (which has a copy of the 1215 Magna Carta). If it is not an area of my expertise I will let you know. Do take a look at my reviews. Overview of your Bath tour
The city of Bath is just under one hour's drive from Stonehenge making it an ideal base to explore this famous and mysterious British monument. I will drive you to and from Stonehenge in my private vehicle. I have visited Stonehenge over 300 times and it never ceases to impress me! Knowing the stories and theories behind the stones really enhances a visit so I will share these with you. I will explain about Stonehenge's history and its unusual stories. I have attended talks by archaeologists who have excavated at Stonehenge and I will share with you their latest discoveries. We will spend approx. 1. 5 - 2 hours at Stonehenge giving us plenty of time to see the Visitor Centre, walk around the stone circle and take photos. Archaeologists still do not know what people did at Stonehenge so after our visit you can tell me your ideas! Before the tour you will need to purchase your entrance tickets (I will send instructions). There are two options for the start time of this tour: 8:30am or 1:30pm.
Your Bath tour itinerary
• I will collect you from your accommodation in Bath and drive you to Stonehenge, the journey will take approx. 50 minutes. • I will guide you around the Visitor Centre and explain about the history of Stonehenge to set the scene for what you are about to see. • From the Visitor Centre we will head to the stone circle. I will guide you around the stone circle pointing out unusual features and telling you more stories about the stones. If you would like me to take photos of you and Stonehenge just let me know! • We will spend approx. 1. 5 - 2 hours at Stonehenge. Afterwards I will drive you back to Bath. During the tour we will not be able to go inside the stone circle nor touch the stones. You will get close to the stones. To get to and from Stonehenge I will drive you in my modern air-conditioned vehicle - a Ford Galaxy. I am licensed to carry 6 passengers. The 2 seats in the 3rd row can accommodate adults but I would advise against these for tall adults. During our exploration of the stone circle we will be walking on grass and we will be exposed to the weather (it can be cold and windy at Stonehenge) so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
